MG32 Type 22 Cordless. The kettle boiled but didn't turn off, then I noticed water leaking out of the bottom as I poured water into a cup.

SOURCE: MG32 Cordless Electric Kettle: Power light shows on my kettle but water does not...

sounds like there's water in the element. Empty it out and let it dry out completely for a few days, and then try it again.
If the element is a concealed element (ie- you can't see the coils when you open the lid up) then there's probably a water leak into the sealed compartment.

Scale between the kettle and the base?

I don't particularly know the model of your kettle. There are so many out there. It sounds like the tank is leaking.

Some of these cleaning and descale agents are very powerful and corrosive. The cleaning solutions you are using may have eaten through the tank of the kettle! This is what it sounds like to me.

Check the recommendations in the instruction manual for cleaning this kettle model.

The lining of the kettle on the inside bottom is boiling away. What is it made of and is this dangerous?

Stainless Steel doesn't boil away. What you're seeing is the mineral deposits (mostly calcium) left behind from heating the heavy water you're pouring into the kettle. Descale it, pour it out and rinse every month or when it gets bad if you like. These deposits won't hurt you but looks nasty. Another option is to use filtered water instead of tap water. Hope this helps a little...

How to clean my Braun electric kettle

Hi, follow the instruction below to clean it up...

Unplug the tea kettle from the wall outlet, and detach the plug from the kettle.

Pour 1/4 cup white vinegar into the kettle, and fill the kettle halfway with hot water.

Agitate the kettle so the vinegar mixture hits the sides of the kettle walls, and let the water sit for 20 minutes.

Discard the vinegar water, and scrub the interior of the kettle gently with a nylon sponge.

Rinse the kettle with hot water, and repeat as needed until all buildup is removed. Let the kettle air-dry before inserting the cord back into the kettle.

When filled with water & put on to boil it start's boiling as normal then after 10 or 20 secs.the lights inside flicker off and the kettle ceases to boil then the lights flicker back on and boiling...

I think you would only solve this problem by cleaning the thermostat contacts, or replacing the thermostat which wouldn't be worthwhile as it's likely to be cheaper to buy a new kettle.
Besides this , just getting into the kettle needs special 3 tongue screwdriver and then a certain technique to open it up without damaging the plastic parts. Im'e afraid its a throw-away world now and its not good .

Sediment in my electric tea kettle

it is very hard to get rid off ass the sediment comes from the tap water untill you boil the water you dont see this sediment and take it for granted that the water is clean but as soon as you put it in a electric kettle this sediment builds up on the element then it brakes off and floats around in the kettle most new kettles have a filter near the spout so when you pour the water out it traps it in the filter then this can be removed and cleaned but the sediment floating in the kettle is hard to get out you can clean the element and descale it and then just keep pouring water in and out of kettle till its all out but it will soon build up again there are two ways to stop sediment one is filter all the water before putting in kettle but this can be slow process so not worth doing or the best sollution is buy a kettle that has a filter by the spout of the kettle and clean this regularly hope this is some help to you............................................
