I have a KDC W311. Everytime I switch off the car engine, all the settings are reverted back to original. I lose all the preset radio stations and have to set it up for audio again. I cannot believe that it does not save all of this data. It's like the 'reset' button is pressed everytime. How do I get it to save all my presets? Thanks

You need to pull out the set and swap the red and yellow wires over these are the permanent and ignition lives. on some cars (usually vw, Audi, seat and skoda) these need to be swapped over

Let me know if this helps

SOURCE: How do I reset the radio alarm preset on Timex (T307S) Clock Radio

if the radio alarm is still showing the nonexistent 98.5, you would need to reset the radio alarm. Press and hold button 1 (top left hand side) until the display starts blinking. Then press the preset button for 98.1. It should then display 98.1 on your radio alarm. good luck this is the most difficult set of instructions I've seen yet

SOURCE: keep losing radio presets

Hi,

Most current car head units requires two (2) kinds of B + supply; the yellow should be connected to an always on/constant B+12 such as the positive terminal of the battery. This is responsible for the memory and setting/configurations not to be erased when powered off. The red wire is connected to a switchable B+12 such as the ACC terminal of the IGN switch making the radio work only when the key is turned to ACC. Of course, the black is ocnnected to the chassis/ground.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

SOURCE: jvc car cd/radio

The radio was improperly installed; there are two 12V leads, one services the radio when on, the other, only the circuitry for the clock and presets.
Eventually, this shouldn't be needed if the manufacturers ever think about using a little bit of flash memory for the presets and a coin cell for the clock.

You didn't give any model number so researching the manual is impossible.
If you can find the model number, look for a user's (or installation) guide on line to find the wiring info.

SOURCE: stereo stations wont stay set

If you have a yellow wire that is the memery wire. It needs to be hooked to a constant hot. If you do not have one you need to get a new plug for the back.

The vehicle has a constant power source that needs to be connected to the radio. If a fuse has disconected the circuit then you will lose your "memory" for your radio. Look in the owners manual for the fuse box locations. Use a light to find the fuse that has disconnected the circuit.
