Some buttons on my remote for my yamaha htr 5750 amp don't work. It's the original and was given to me. The volume and power buttons don't work or make the red lite flash; however the other buttons seem to work fine. Do I need a reset or a new remote. Thanks

Unfortunately, you need the remote or a universal remote which matches the original remote to access the menus. The manual for the HTR-5750 is available here: https://usa.yamaha.com/files/download/other_assets/5/319575/HTR_5750_5740.PDF Amazon lists a few vendors with an equivalent remote.

a good start would be a glance at the owners manual

this will help
perhaps you have a faulty remote
perhaps it got banged and needs the insides soldered like the IR diode at the top end
i see you mention it isnt working
so try another or take the remote to an electronics buddy who can click it open and check for a bad solder or etc...

But does it work using FM or speaker test tones? Start with the basics.

Then consider digital source assignments. (Look in the manual).

Zoom in on the picture of the original remote provided on the site (or look at your own) and get the actual remote model number.

or check eBay: search for "(model of the device or the remote) remotes", check the 'include description' box. Usually cheaper than the vendors.

Make sure you are not in zone 1 or zone 2 on the receiver.

If you can find codes for Marantz receivers they might work. Yamaha makes Marantz like Pioneer to Premier & Onkyo to Integra.

this one worked for me...well...sort of, no power, but it got the big one! VOLUME! 0176 and to clarify this is to reply to houseof5girl, this worked on a motorola dvr from cox.
