Hi toddisstan...

Use a piece of wire12-14 inches long and slightly smaller than the size of the inside diameter of the fuel line and push it into the new fuel line and thru to the other side of the line, make a hook in the wire to hook over the end of the new fuel line and pull the wire tight against the new fuel line.
The wire will collapse the fuel line when you go to insert it into the tank, that is why the wire must be smaller than the inside of the fuel line..
Then lube the outside of the new fuel line with a light oil or vasoline, grab the wire and fuel line combo and insert it into the gas tank...
Once you have the fuel line into the tank, then push the wire all the way thru the new fuel line and remove it from the fuel tank with a set of needle nose pliers.
Please take time to rate me thumbs up

Install new fuel line

Ryobi makes a great little kit for fuel lines its not expensive and it fits most small engines (less 46 cc) like weed whackers and chain saws , it includes a "TOOL!!!" for feeding new fuel lines thru and of course has new fuel line too , this tool is invaluable in getting these things to fit , and its got some neat directions on how to use it , best of all it fits lots of makes and models too

Easy way to install fuel line and primer bulb return line into gas tank

Chainsaw fuel lines enter the gas tank from holes in top of tank. They are sized for a tight fit to prevent leakage. Make it easy on yourself when pushing the line through the tank by cutting a long lengthwise taper cut with razor knife 3 inches or longer to easily feed through that tight hole. Once started you will then have to grab it through the gas cap hole with needle nose pliers, then cut the tapered end flush and add fuel filter. Readjust inside length by pulling from above, then cut to length to upper carb fitting. If connecting to primer bulb a filter is not required and make sure the line goes to fitting on primer bulb marked tank.

Homelite weed trimmer bogs down and smothers out quits running

This could be a number of things. Clogged air filter/fuel filter/carburetor/fuel tank lid breather hole, cracked fuel line or primer bulb, or clogged spark arrestor in muffler. Here's some links that will help to change the bulb, fuel cap, fuel lines, rebuild carb, replace spark arrestor, and troubleshoot.

Homelite leaf blower fuel tank pickup fell off

There should be something going into the tank, a plastic elbow or connector, that will connect the fuel line from the carb to the pick up in the tank. Generally what I do is remove what ever goes into the tank and get a piece of fuel line slightly bigger than the hole and insert the fuel line directly from the carb into the tank. You have to be sure the hose is really tight so to create an air tight seal. Pull the new hose out of the tank through the fuel fill and insert the new fuel filter, push the hose back in making sure it is on the bottom of the tank but has room to move around

Reattaching fuel line to gas tank.

Get a new line the same size and length of the old one. Get the filter out of the tank. If it is as I think, it has a barbed end that goes into the outlet hole. Take your new line, fit it onto the filter end and make sure it is all the way on. Take the other end of the line and cut a taper on the end. Thread the end through the tank, into the outlet hole and aissist it so your filter sticks through the tank hole. There was a ring on the outside of the tank, on the line. Take that ring and run the ring over the end of the tube up to the filter bottom. Make sure it goes all the way up to the bottom, and tight.Square off the end and slip it onto the carb...Good luck...Lee

Gas line needs to go thru buttom of gas tank on sears weed wacker

Take your old line to a lawn mower parts store, ask for a new gas line of the same size. I would buy about a foot long. Push the line in the tank down into the tank(doing this with the tank empty), remove gas cap, turn upside down, a filter and your old line will fall out. Press the new gas line through the hole, push enough through that it comes out of the filler hole, place filter onto the new line, drop into tank, cut off excess and reattach to the carburator.

My homelite weed eater sx-135 the fuel filter broke of the tube

The longest, and sometimes smaller in diameter, fuel line goes from the carb. to the bottom of the tank. It should rest comfortably on the bottom of the tank. The other line should go from the primer bulb to just inside the gas tank, (about an inch).
HINT: Cut the fuel lines at an angle before inserting them into the gas tank. This will allow you to get them in much easier.

If you need further assistance, just let me know.

The longer, and sometimes smaller in diameter fuel line, goes from the carburetor to the bottom of the tank. This line, which has the filter attached to the end, should rest comfortably on the bottom of the tank.
The other fuel line goes from the primer bulb to just inside the tank, (about an inch, with that very small piece of plastic attached to it. This piece of plastic keeps this line from pulling out of the gas tank. this line serves as an overflow from carb.

Fuel Lines leak where they pass through opening into tank

i had the same problem with my trimmer. you could replace the fuel line but if you don't want to hassle with fishing it thru the hole i suggest going to homelite.com and ordering the gas tank. it only cost me $18 with shipping and came with everything (tank, lines-with fuel filter, and gas cap). all you need to do is take out the 4 bolts on back of trimmer and the 2 top bolts holding the housing together. be careful not to nick any gaskets especially the one behind the 4 bolts. this is the crankcase gasket. also don't get anything in the crankcase that will score it as this will ruin the trimmer. also there are 3 spacer gaskets that go in the holes in the fuel tank and i believe a plastic heat shield between the gas tank and the bottom of the trimmer. you will see this when you take the tank off. just be careful and be sure all the bolts get tightend up (especially the 4 on the back as this is the back side of the crankcase). it only took me 15 min to replace it and the trimmer runs great. all the above info is if you have a trimmer with the gas tank on bottom. if the tank and gas cap are on top hopefully someone else will be able to help.

good luck

I have an older Weed Eater gas powered trimmer(Model XT 85T) The fuel lines have aged, rotted and broke. I have new lines (big fuel line and small fuel line). How do I get these lines through the holes...

gas line is 1/8" ID. NAPA autoparts sells replacement gas line that works but has an OD that will not fit hole in plastic frame where the carb sits. Just drill the plastic to the OD of new gas line and use needlenose pliers to install the line. Same goes for the gas tank. Just make sure it is tight fit so it does not leak.
