I have a sony w252 mp3 player and i erased every thing in it but its memory still seems to be full... how can i format the all memory....

Hi,

Formatting is available only while playback is stopped.
If the OPR lamp lights red due to low remaining battery power, the player cannot be formatted.
All data stored on the player will be erased.
The Content Transfer software included with the player will also be deleted.
If necessary, download Content Transfer from the customer support web site.
The settings of shuffle playback, playlist playback, ZAPPIN playback, and AVLS (volume limit) also return to their defaults.
Follow the steps below to format the Player.
1 Unite the left and right parts to turn off the player.
2 Separate the left and right parts.
3 Press and hold the jog lever for about 15 seconds until the status lamp blinks quickly. Release the jog lever. The OPR lamp lights red.
4 Move the jog lever forward or backward within 30 seconds after the OPR lamp lights red. The status lamp turns off. The OPR lamp lights alternately green and red each time you move the jog lever.
5 Press the jog lever while the OPR lamp lights green. The OPR lamp blinks green quickly and formatting is executed. When the OPR lamp turns off, formatting is complete. If you press the jog lever while the OPR lamp lights red, or if 30 seconds have passed, formatting will be canceled.

Thanks for contacting FixYa.

My MP3/MP4 Player keeps saying "disk error"

sounds like a corrupt memory chip or if it has a hard drive it has a bad sector maybe formatting it might help

Sansa m250 not working, need help soon

Plugging it into another computer changed the formatting of the player.. I would format the player from the menu itself, but if that fails:
There are two ways to format an Mp3 player - one on the computer itself, and one in Windows Media Player. Both methods will end up erasing all the songs on the player, but the player will be "good as new" after that. Sometimes reformatting in this manner will override the player's native formatting and cause problems - this can be reversed in most cases by updating the player's firmware. Firmware upgrades are available from most manufacturers' websites.

WARNING: The following procedures will erase all songs on the player.

Check if the file system is NTFS. If yes, format it to FAT or FAT32. - Connect player to computer, double-click my computer, right click on icon of mp3 player and select format. This only applies to Windows-based computers.
You can also format the player in Windows Media Player itself:
Connect your Mp3 player to the computer and open Windows Media Player. Click on the Sync tab. Pull down the drop down menu underneath the Sync tab by moving your cursor over the Sync tab and left clicking on the little black arrow underneath the Sync tab. Highlight "name of Mp3 player here 1GB" (wording may vary slightly), and then select "Format." - this should erase everything.

Freezing

I had the excact same thing just turn it on and let the battery run all the way down, then all you have to do is charge it. If this does not work make sure you are running the battery all the way down. Trust me this works.
Good Luck

Hard error

There has been many of these tyes of errors, i had an error like this myself, i fixed this by formatting my mp3 player, however you could try looking for updates if not format would be your best option.

If there is software for this mp3 player use that to format the player. If there isn't go to "My Computer" look for the mp3 player, prefferably called "Removable drive" right click on that then click on "Format", do that and see if it works after that.

Very loud noise / Corrupt files on PNY Vibe

According to page 15 of the Vibe manual, "When formatting in Windows XP, if File System is FAT32 or NTFS, VIBE does not work." Step 2 under "Formatting VIBE" states: "After setting File system to FAT, press Start button to format." Don't know if this helps, but, if so, you might want to download the manual from support at pny.com. Sanddollar
