First, please check that if your Dell Vostro 1520 battery and laptop connection place is clean, please clean them and test if it will get better.Else, you can find something useful in this article's last post: battery can't be detected by laptop

this is happening because of bios upgrade but not in a bad way. May be there is a hardware problem just starting so new bios upgrade is detecting that and thats why its restarting.

basically sudden shut down occurs in either cases- Fan not working or hard disk(or RAM) gone bad.

my advise is to contact dell customer support and they will guide you thru trouble shooting steps.
they will guide you if your warranty is not there.

Did you try using the software that is built into the computer to use your webcam? If not just search webcame in the start menu. I tried looking for the drivers but seems that there aren't any. Sorry if this wasn't much help.

looks like a compatibility issue. need to know which OS you are running. perhaps you have upgraded your OS from a previous version and that might be the reason why the drivers maybe incompatible.

try opening msn (or any other messenger) & click web cam option in it. It should automatically detect web cam...

Go to device manager uninstall the driver for the web cam then after that download the latest driver for your web cam in the support website of dell.
Then, install it if that doesn't work. Access BIOS of your laptop that will be f2 on the start up of your computer check if the web cam is detected.
If it is reinstalling the application of the web cam can help,
If it is not detected and after you've tried the all the things that I've told you it's either you end up erasing everything on your computer or replacing the web cam which is integrated in your LCD.

The only solution to this problem is to make your webcam live for others to see you. If that is not done then you will be seeing only yourself.

Another problem is your internet speed. If your speed is very slow then you may see people but people may not be able to see you.

if these dont work, try reinstalling your yahoo messenger.

What type of Dell notebook is it?

You may need to uninstall the driver and get the updated one from dell.com website. Install the updated driver and then reboot. Please rate me.
