    The image of was the closest one to my remotes, but not the same. I had no other choice on the page. It is a Drekt Start Remote .... I'm not sure if Directed Electronics is the same thing. I really would like to see a manual for Direkt Start, if possible. Thanks for your help! Diane.

You will first need to find the brain for the alarm and find out what the model number to the alarm is. The alarm brain should be somewhere under the dashboard. Good Luck

    Sorry I have not gotten back to you sooner. I have been trying to find some information. The only I have so far is it is an overseas alarm, which means manuals are going to be hard to come buy unless you buy it. I will continue to look and if I find anything I will post it here.

I do not recommend remote start systems for manual transmissions. You would have to bypass the clutch interlock to enable the starting circuit. If you left the vehicle in gear and used the remote you could do damage to the vehicle or other property (hopefully the parking brake holds the car in place). I have never seen a factory remote system on a manual transmission, to much liability....

If you don't have the remote then its pretty much useless. I have seen at Pep Boys where they sell replacements for the factory/dealer installed alarms. Or just remove the alarm completely and reconnect everything the way it was.
Without knowing what brand alarm it is a person cannot honestly answer how to disarm it as they all work differently.
If you know a brand and model you may be able to find downloadable instruction on the manufactures web site.

Hmm, I don't know why the emphasis is in the remote here.

Front panel switches still exist on most products so ramble across the room and try touching it with your finger so we don't have to factor in a possible remote malfunction.

I can't locate a free manual anywhere but YOU should contact Wharfedale and ask them where you could get one because the website only lists a handful of speaker downloads.

However the digital audio for the "AV" is arriving, it is probably not syncing up or the signal / cable is failing or disconnected. Try swapping with known good cables or input jacks.

Bought a 2002 jetta that has a prestige remote start on it. it worked fine a few months. Today nothing works..it won't start, or even trigger the start sequence, and the door lock/unlock won't...
There are two possiblities that could prove to be the fault; hood pin switch and remote start shutdown switch. If the vehicle is equipped with a hood shut down switch, you will need to make an adjustment to it for the remote starter to function. Search around the drivers side edges of the engine compartment for a push pin.If the pin is a stand alone it will be mounted near the headlight inserted into an existing hole. It may also be attached to a bracket. The remote start shutdown switch is a toggle switch located under the drivers side of the dash,usually to the left of the brake pedal, depending on the installation.

If nothing above solves the problem, you may need to reprogram the remote to the unit.

i do not believe the equinox has a remote starter from factory so i am to assume someone had one installed. most directed electronics type alarms simply require you to press the AUX button twice to begin the remote start sequence. if this is not a Directed product then what button you press and how many times you press it may vary.
