Sony Grand WEGA KDF-55WF655 36" Rear Projection HDTV Logo
Anonymous Posted on Sep 09, 2011

I have a Sony KDF-55WF655. I think the IR sensor is going bad. My remote occasionally stops working for no reason. I have tried numerous different remotes, but I get the same problem no matter which remote I use. I have changed the batteries as well. The remotes still work the cable box with no problem, but TV functions (volume, mute, power on/off, etc) don't work. The sensor is not obstructed by anything. I've tried unplugging the TV for a while and then plugging it back in. Nothing has fixed the problem. It happens at random times. I'll use the remote to adjust the volume and then the next time I try to adjust the volume it does nothing. Or, I'll mute the TV and then cannot get it to unmute. Sometimes the remote works fine for a few days, and then it will all of a sudden stop working. I don't get it.

Hi:
The IR receiver inside the television is becoming intermittent and needs to be replaced. You might also check the connections on the receiver small circuit board for cold or loose solder joints.

Testimonial: "I thought that might be the case. Thanks for the help. "

I was in my time a tv service engineer and had many a remote do this the IR Sensor at the top off the circuit board has loose soldered joints But you have to take the remote apart to get to it and in many remotes this is not that essay as they are pressed together and may have screws also so you need to look carefully THE parts that are pressed together ease apart with a flat wide say have inch blade at one side half way down the remote you should hear it pop then ease it all the way round and then look to see if the IR is lose if it is re solder Hope this helps Good luck

Remote Stopped Working

It is possible the IR sensor is bad. Most of the time if it is a remote issue, the light on the remote will not light up. Does the remote that came with tv still control any functions? I would try the remote that came with the tv, and then go from there, but it sounds like your IR sensor has gone out on you.

Problem for Sony Grand WEGA KDF-55WF655. Hello,

5 times Red LED blinks means Lamp Driver Error. (KDF-55WF655)
2 possible reasons, either Lamp is gone or Ballast Supply got bad.
Replace lamp first, in most cases it solved the problem.
How old is this TV and did you replaced lamp recently?
Thanks.

Sony KDF 55WF655 rear Project tv Power/standby light flashing

This would be an error code indicating a problem.  You didn't mention if anything else was going on with the TV as in no picture, or no sound.  If the TV is operating just fine, there could be a bug in the software causing this.  If there is a problem, the best thing would be to contact Sony and relay that error message and go from there.

Sony KDF-55WF655 Won't Pwr up

There's a fan in the optical block (light engine) You may also have either an intermittent fan or a bad connection from the fan(s)

I have a sony KDF-55WF655 for some reason it only shows video 5 and video 6 but not video 1-4? tried searching menu but cannot find reason. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

It is in the menu for input labeling. Each video label can be added or removed so you don't have to click through each one if it is not used.

Sony KF-60WE610 TV remote is acting up. Remote tests fine. DVR is also new, so that isn't the problem either. First noticed volume would not go up and down with DVR remote, but TV remote OK. Then wouldn't...

Hey Bry,

Judging by the picture of your television on Sony's site: http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/model-home.pl?mdl=KF60WE610&LOC=3

The IR sensor is right below the Sony emblem. If you're really curious you can find a site that offers service manuals and order one. It will get you schematics and tell you exactly where everything is.

Also, if you get everything up and running and decide you need to replace your lamp, check out xl2100u-lamp.com. I haven't ordered from there yet, but it looks promising.
