Rotel Amp center channel out

Hi. I recently set up a home theater audio system that has a Rotel THX Amplifier. When the amp starts up it has a diagnostic panelon the front that shows status for left, right and center channel checks. I was testing it with a DVD and noticed no center channel sound was coming out. I checked the speaker wiring and turned the sysytem back on. It was then that I noticed the diagnostic light for the center channel was out. Just wondering if this thing is ready for the repair shop, or if there is something else I can do to reset it. Thanks.

Also make sure you have the DVD setup for center channel as well. It and the subwoofer can be disabled in most DVD players. BMW

SOURCE: Rotel RA 9808X Amplifier

I'd suspect that one of the two output transistors on that channel has gone bad. If you are unsure how to test or troubleshoot this, then you might try replace both the NPN and PNP outputs and catch the bad one that way. If your amp uses an output module then you would of course have to replace the module which would replace all the output transistors on both channels. Good luck. Another thing to look out for, is the emitter bias resistors. They are the large white ceramic ones near the outputs. Sometimes one of those will open up too. They will be of a very small resistance value like .5 ohms (point five ohms) or something in that general ballpark, and have a wattage value of typicaly 5 watts. So they are pretty big resistors. Be sure to check them all even if you do find a bad output transistor. They will often go out with the transistor. Good luck.

I have a pioneer XV-DV55 and the center speaker and Left and Right rear speaker are not working. What should i do?

Did you check your speaker selection switch to make sure that those units are getting power? If that is not it I am afraid that you may have a problem with the dts audio chip responsible for the decoding of the different channels ..I had this happen with my Pioneer 9700 receiver.
If you have an amplifier module that powers certain channels see if there is an amp module that powers those three areas. If so, it could be THAT amp module that is defective since lots of newer receivers do not have discrete amps for each channel and resort to modules to supply power to two or three channels at a time ala Panasonic receivers.

Audio problems

Click the link below for manual pages I mention to make changes:

http://www.harmankardon.com/resources/Brands/harmankardon/Products/ProductRelatedDocuments/en-US/OwnersManual/AVR1700_OM_EN.pdf

Most dialog sound comes from the center channel / speaker. If not working correctly, it make become difficult to hear people talking especially if there is a lot of other sound going on in movies and some music, too.

Check and adjust the volume level for the center channel or speaker. Check page 8 of the manual to learn how to use the remote to change the volume level of individual channels or speakers.

If you want, you may find it is a good idea to check page 17 to esablish correct volume levels for each channel by runnijng the set up with the microphone. This will allow the system to be "calibrated" for the room. This is a very important step in "getting the sound right".

If none of these suggestions work, you may have a problem with the center speaker itself - or with the amplifier for the center channel.

I hope this helps & good luck!

Check the speaker connections for the center channel. Page 6 shows the location on the rear of the amplifier - but check the speaker itself first as it is easier to get to and the rear of the amp is less likely to be distrubed and have a poor connection.

We can't hear spoken audio on our recent dvds (movies), only the music. Some of the the older movies are fine.

Your center channel speaker is not working. In modern 5.1 movies dialogue only comes from the center channel. Older movies were stereo/mono so the dialogue would come from both the front speakers.
See if the speaker wires are intact and not loose. After that to confirm if the speaker is OK or defective exchange the center speaker with one of the working ones.If the center speaker does not produce sound, you will have to replace it. But if it works, that would mean that your center channel amplifier is not working & for that you will need professional help.
CHECK CABLES FIRST FOR LOOSE CONTACTS.

There are some worn out capacitors in the power supply. Most can be visually detected by looking at the tops of the round metal cans. If they are not flat on top, then it needs to be replaced.

Connecting samsung home theater to samsung lcd tv and direct tv

Need to get more granular on this, Does the volume work HT remote, for like radio, cd, ipod audio? For you to use the tv audio through the HTB the tv's audio settings should be on the "fixed" output option. This gives a line level to the Amp independant of the tvs volume adhjustment. Otherwise you will need to adjust tvs volume 75% or so before the audio amp will reproduce a good volume. Turn down audio amp prior to making any adjustments. Let me know thx

Subwoffer how to connect it to my amp

You have the M-Audio BX8A speaker listed here. Is this what you have? If so, this is a powered speaker and therefor no need for an amplifier. If you want to use it as part of your 5.1 home theater system, it is not possible to power other speakers with this particular speaker, as it does not have the required output connections.
