try turning it off and on fast... if see a flash or white flash you have high voltage at least as high voltage collaspes. check your inputs on remote you might be on av 2 or something.

If we have an hd-ready television and we have dishnetwork hd does their box make our tv hd? Or do we have to have their magical piece of equipment to make our television hd?or tv is the WS-55315 model.

You need a HD box connected to the DTV input on the back of the set (it is marked 1080) This set has only one HD input for this---HD ready means it will work only with a box (some newer sets have a HD tuner built into them and for basic HD channels do not need a box).

Protector glass on a mitsubishi 55in hdtv 1080 #ws-55315

I have the same tv and I took my clear shield off and never put it back on.  The picture is much better without it as it will reflect light and objects in the room making it difficult to see the pic clearly.  I was told by a service tech that the primary purpose of the glass or shield is to prevent damage to the screen from objects, water etc.  If you have no small children in the home you can enjoy a better pic.

Mitsubishi WS-55315 no video present

Hi,

Appreciate the direct "Ask Me".

You description of "...no video but with audio..." could indicate a number of possibilities:
  • power supply section;
  • tuner
  • video amplifier/selector;
  • vertical section;
  • horizontal section .
Other ideas are:
  • Since it has still sound, then the power supply is a least likely possibility;
  • Since it has still sound, then the tuner is a secondary suspect;
  • Since the menu shows, then the vertical and horizontal would be highly unlikely.
  • which eaves us the video amplifier or electronic/soft selector as the most likely culprit.
Further diagnosis would of course would require a fair familiarity of electronic components/circuitry and safety procedures, use of a DVM and a soldering iron. It would be to your added advantage access to a service manual or at the very least a schematic diagram with voltage readings. Should you be uncomfortable performing a DIY (do-it-yourself), perhaps your best bet would then be to seek the services of a qualified professional.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

Mitsubishi WS-55315 audio no picture

Good Day;

More than likely your TV has "COOLANT" (ethylene glycol) on the circuit boards. This fluid comes from the CRT's (picture tube) this fluid is used to keep the CRT's cool, such the name. This fluid from the CRT's leak when TV is on for long periods of time, the chamber expands and the seals leak.

One can remove this fluid by using "acetone" & small brush. The fluid is hard to see, use bright light, they spots can be smaller then a DIME. Also, the fluid can corrode the parts and traces on the boards. To protect the TV in future place heavy plastic or thick cardboard over affective area, make sure TV has proper air flow around TV.

If after the fluid has been removed and TV still does not work, call an Authorized Service Center to come out and repair TV after giving you an Written Estimate. The boards are not available.

Always try resetting the TV by unplugging it for one minute then plug back into A/C outlet and ALWAYS UNPLUG TV BEFORE ATTEMPTING ANY REPAIR ON THE TV.

Good Luck, big IRISH.

Audio but no picture

Try first unplugging the tv for one hour,
you can also try also a whack test, tapping gently the TV on the side , if you get picture then it is a wiring or a bad connection.

If you have no picture it can be the lamp, if the lamp is fine is either an internal board or the light engine, but this is uncommon.

here you can buy replacements.

If you need a technician call the number listed on the owner manual.

HD Hookup on Dish Network 2nd Location

In order for you to receive HD broadcasting you must have a HD-TV, otherwise you wont get the picture in HD. Also I should point out that you need to make sure that the signal itself is being broadcast in HD.

No volume on tv

Check to see if all video/audio connections are right. If you know it's all hooked up correctly then look in audio and see if anything is turned off. Maybe internal speakers. Do you have cable or satellite, or you going thru RF connector or AV inputs?
