My Sony HD-TV KDF-50E2000 is about 18 months old. The picture went out. The green on light stays on for only a few minutes then goes off and the red lamp light flashes. You can turn the Tv on again and the same thing happens again. I unplugged the TV over night and turned on again and the same thing happens. Green light flashes a few minutes then goes off and the red lamp light flashes.

Yes, if you have not replaced the lamp since you purchased this TV.
Lamps usually last about 6000 hours.
I've seen lamps last much longer than 6000Hrs, it all depends on the usage.
Remove the lamp from the TV and do a visual inspection, see if there's a crack on the glass or the bulb.
If the TV is few years old then the Lamp may be bad.

The 5 blinks error code means that the lamp driver is faulty. How good are your electronics/soldering skills?

It is the lamp that is reached at end of life span.
Replace lamp in tv if it has not been replaced in last 2-3 years.
Lamp replacement procedure is easy and written in user manual.

Green light flashes 5 and then red light flashes 6

There is a real good chance that the lamp fan is not turning. If you look with a flashlight in the vent on the left side looking at the rear of the set and have someone turn on the unit, see if it spins. if it doesnt, the protect circuit in the tv will not let the set turn on. Replacing the fan will cure the proplem if it is not turning.

After being on a little while, the screen goes black (no audio as well) for 20 to 30 seconds. Green light stays on. Then, picture comes back on and takes a couple of seconds to get up to full brightness. About 5 seconds or so after the video comes back, the audio returns.

Until this morning, has only happened a couple of times a day, now happening more often. About 3 times in last 20 minutes.

KDF-E55A20 is about 3 years old.

I get 5 blinking red lights for about a minute or so before it powers back down. The Sony TV has a specific light that i presume is supposed to light up when the bulb is out. I'm unsure if this is what it is.
no picture, no sound. tries to boot with green light blinking a few times. then goes to red blinking light, six in all, then waits a few moments, then another 6 blinking red light.
Bulb was already replaced several months ago but we do have the TV on for long periods of time.

same problem... tv turns on and off repeadly while the green light flashes. seems as if the tv keeps restarting. please help.
