I have the same problem with a new one ,take a peace of paper and cover the battery cover air inlet when it's running ,if your problem stops-it's the seal around the cover,a honda rep let the cat out of the bag,---jk
JK - What did you need a new seal
JHK - What seal was it - Front Cover or Battery Seal ????
I have the same issue. A new EU6500is, that surges when over 50% load. The piece of paper works. I don't see any seal around the battery cover. Should there be one?
I just toke delivery of a new EU6500is. It's starts to surge as you discribed after it warms up (5 min.). While cold, it the barrery cover off it surges also. When it would start to warm up and show signs of surging, covering the vents in the battery cover would smooth the motor untill it was warm. What did you end up doing to fix the problem?
Amazing worked for me, new generator only 11 hours on it, have already had a lot of problems with this like the battery not holding a charge, the surging I had it in for service three times and have only used it once for a 4 hour power failure.
Same problem. I covered the whole vent system to the height of the battery cover and the surging stopped. Does this hurt the engine? What is the permanent fix?

The battery cover trick worked for me. The cover has to be on to prevent the surging with or without the eco throttle being on. Thanks!

I had a Colman that only surged when it had a large load on it. ConsumerReports.org says that some Coleman generators just can't hold a constant voltage. Hondas are expensive but very good,.

Can anyone help me with the eco-trottle switch when I switch it on it seems to run the same idle whether I have it off or on, what could be causing it not to work, is it a bad switch or I am running 89 octane could that be the problem.
Thanks
Alex
