USB flash drives are made of a small amount of flash ram and usualy the size of a persons thumb.

the software that resides on them determins if the "disk volume" is write protected.

if a software program other than the native software that came with the drive has write protected "files" that exist on the drive you will need to find out the name of said program and follow the proceedures for changing the write protection of those files.

In case I've not made myself clear

the "disk volume" means the intire hard drive root and includes all the files on the disk volume

what I think happened to you is you just have files that are write protected

if that is the case you can

right click each folder or file and left click properties and uncheck the read only attribute

then click on apply , then click ok

after doing so the file will no longer be write protected.

you can do the same thing with a folders read only attributes , same proceedure

    Shalom :-)

SOURCE: write protected

First try to see is there any lock in your usb pen drive and see if its not locking the pen drive, because some pen drives comes with that option to protect usb .it looks like slide switch .for one end it will lock the media and when you switch to other side you have the full access
but if that's not the reason it might be the problem with registry

Use the Registry Hack to Disable Writing to USB Drives
Here is the link .just download the zip folder and after opening the folder you will find a file just double click on it..

SOURCE: how can i remove the write protection on my usb

Try to look for a small tab on your usb flash drive that can be adjusted up or down. If it is lowered, pull the tab up to unprotect it; or vice versa.

    USB flash drive write protection

Most USB drives don't have a Write Protection switch, but if yours does, then move the slider.

If it doesn't have a switch, the only way to use the drive is to format the drive. First, note the drive letter, such as E, F G for your drive. *** BE CAREFUL *** This will remove all files. Go to Windows Explorer, note the drive letter , Right-click and select Format. Again, BE CAREFUL not to format any other drive, just your removable USB drive.

    Hope this helps.
