My 7.1 (T7900) system is not working. When all connected. The Light does not come on on the Volume Control Unit when the volume knob is switched on. The multi pin lead that goes into the rear of SW isn't the cleanest fit. Had some problems with a bent pin before. Creative have stopped all support for this model. Any suggestions ?

SOURCE: Creative T7900 Speakers

ODDS are slim without a connecting unit best bet to accomplish this is to get the dds-100 by creative good luck though as this item is discontinued and expensive even still to date. you will need osmething to decode the signal from the tv. a receiver with any surround capabilities will also work

Aiwa AV-X200 Stereo Receiver volume knob: When using the remote, the knob isn't spinning correctly any longer (doesn't spin, or spins really slow). Take the unit apart? What should I look for?

Question edited for clarity.
Question moved from Washing Machines category.

Check out the video. It may just need cleaning with switch cleaner and a couple of drop of sewing machine oil. The fact it does move is a good sign.

Sound volume knob does't respond

Chances are that it's a digital volume control.

The fact that it turns down again means it's probably fixable.

Open it up (switch it off first), and fetch a soldering iron. Look around for wires that go from the volume control and see if any are loose connections/broken wires etc etc. Solder these again, and it should work.

If you don't fancy this, take it to a hifi shop and they'll fix it for you (there'll probably be a fee involved)

Volume control does not turn volume down. Lost remote control CD Receiver LT-1

I have opened the same unit up. The volume control knob moves a plastic paddle against a right & left micro switches. The paddle is connected to the knob by a very thin piece of plastic which breaks very easily. I tried to glue a different piece of plastic on , but it only worked for a little while. It was a pain to assemble & reassemble the unit. I do not recommend trying it. Just buy another remote (about $35.00)!
Good Luck

Broken volume knob

I located the remote control for the unit and it works fine. As the unit is not the primary amplifier for the home stereo system, I use the remote to control the volume. Thank you for your quick responce, and I will keep you in mind for any future needs.

The rotary volume knob on my DEH 9400MP head unit has stopped working. this also happened to my friend's. the steering wheel remote still works. is this common? can it be fixed please?

Although I can't check this fix works for 1 month, a really simple explanation and fix was offered.

The rotary knob/control has 2 contacts, which when the knob is rotated c/w or anti-c/w it generates a pulse. The diagnosis is that as the remote still works, the PCB & volume circuit is fine. What is likely is that the 2 contacts/switches have become dirty or clogged.

SUGGESTED FIX: Take head unit faceplate apart to access PCB & rear of rotary control (4 screws). Spray WD40 into rear of volume control and rotate liberally to clean contacts. Dry of with lint free cloth, tissue or air dry.

I am confident this will work and the volume control will function again.

Got t7900`

Hi,

I have had that problem with a T7700/T7900 speaker system.

Disconnect the remote control from the subwoofer. Then what you need to do is unscrew the remote volume/bass control unit (4 little screws). Swab the contacts on the volume dial with a cotton bud (q tip) denaturated alcohol or even perfume will work. Make sure you do it several times until all the slight dirt that is causing the volume fluctuation/spikes to happen. Also remove any remnants of cotton that might get stuck. Now you'll have it working as new as long do not cause any other damage to the unit.

Cheers,
Daniel

Volume

the volume control needs to be cleaned. this control is a step switch basicly. and the switch contacts are not making proper contact. cleaning this requires dis-assembly and desoldering so if you are inclined to do this work happy fixing if not it shouldn't cost much to fix.
