Washing machine won't turn on

Firstly my Fisher & Paykal top loader SmartDrive 9 just wouldn't turn on one day - no power at all, but I had recently turned it off in the middle of a spin cycle twice in a row which I later remembered I wasn't supposed to do and put it down to that. Since March I've had a friend's Omega WD 1067 front loader and dryer, voila - all of a sudden the power won't come on! We have been using non top loader specific detergent and perhaps its been overloaded once or twice but I don't think so. It's not the electrics as the old dryer sitting next to it still works perfectly. Anyone?

my F&P GW11 has the same problem. first it wouldn't drain, now the power is out completely. my concern is the cost of repair compaired to buying a new machine. i assume it blew a fuse but am betting a larger problem caused the fuse to blow. will i have to repair the fuse to diagnose it? any idea on repair cost?

Started with water not draining but replcement of diverter valve fixed that & all OK for 3 weeks. Machine again did not drain water & displayed error code 62. Turned machine off for 30 mins & on again but no change. Switched off at wall socket & drained water out manually left o'night due to other commitments switched on next morning display lights flickered but would not turn on. Holding down the power on button for a few seconds brings up error code 104. What do these error codes mean & how can I get a copy please?

For the F&P machine.
Check the circuit board fuse. I had my machine do exactly the same thing. Just wouldn't power up at all, no lights, nothing.
The fuse is on the circuit board a small round red unit, with T1.6A250V written on the top.
Remove the 2 screws securing the control panel. Inside there is a grey plastic box. This houses your circuit board. You will need to have a multi meter and a soldering iron to replace this component.

I found the glass fuse on my F&P circuit board to be bad. Where did you buy the red fuse that you replaced on yours?

  • Anonymous Oct 16, 2014

There is no glass fuse on the model I have. But I ordered it from RS components (10 pack)

Check power cable connector for disconnected wire. On some machines, there's a thermal fuse mounted to the exhaust duct inside the back cover panel (in a white plastic house). If the fuse has blown, it should be replaced. Good luck !!!

Sometimes the water mixing tank can spring a leak which allows water to fill up the area below the circuit board on top of the machine shorting it out intermittently. Take the top off the control panel - two screws at the back, look for water under circuit board. If it is present, remove circuit board and dry. remove water mixing tank, silicone all the joints especially the sensor hole on the top. allow slicone to dry. Put it all back togeather and it should go if you are lucky enough for the circuit board not to have fried itself. You can usually see if it has as it will have burn or scorch marks on the circuit board. Good luck

Omega WD 1067 washer/dryers have an over temperature stat inside that requires manual resetting if the dryer is overloaded & the temperature gets too high. To fix - UNPLUG THE POWER LEAD - remove the 2 screws from the rear top, lift the top up a little at the back & slide the lid forward to remove it.
The over temp. stat is a small rectangular box with a red button on top, push the button - if you hear a "click" it was tripped & that would have stopped the machine. Reassemble & wash-away.
If you have a copy of the operators manual please send me a scan of it.

How do I adjust the clutch on an ELBA Model WA50T54W1 top loader washing machine ?

Hi.

Unfortunately the service documentation for Elba is not available. Although the machine has been built by F&P and although is similar to a Fisher & Paykel Smartdrive there are some small difference. The clutch system may be similar to the smartdrive. I have uploaded the service manuals for two smart drive models below, see if that can help. Check section about disassembly.
