Scanner bulb warming up keeps cycling, seems like the scanner is not working and can not print or copy. Sounds like the movement across the scanner doesn't happen.

The copy button keeps blinking orange

CAUSE: The scanner bulb is defective or does not receive enough electricity to warm up properly.
Try the following steps to try to solve the issue:
1. Unplug the power cord from the unit, wait around 10 seconds and plug it back. 2. Try to make a copy to verify if this procedure solved the issue. 3. If the unit is still unable to make a copy, you will need to get it serviced and scanner bulb may need a replacement.

sounds as if your scanner bulb is fualty I would suggest doing a power cycle - by removing the power cord while on wait ten seconds and plug cord back in or try a different power socket (preferbly a direct socket without any adapters connected to it)

Will not print. Message says

Your scanner bulb is not warming up. It would cost more to repair it than buying a new printer.

Warming up

This sounds like the scanner assembly or possibly just the bulb. Remember, the copy function is really 'scan to printer'.

Not working, says: scanner bulb warming up. I

One needs patience as the warmup takes a few minutes sometimes. This is to allow the lamp phosphor to stabilize.

Fax and cancel lights are flashing

I found this solution at HP website. It worked for me. Good luck!

A Scanner Bulb Error message is received as a result of the HP LaserJet 3300mfp series product scanner’s inability to find the home reference point.
SOLUTION:
Perform the following steps to walk the scan assembly from the home base and resolve the issue.
1. Remove and replace the power cord from the unit.
2. Wait approximately 35 seconds for the scanning assembly to “walk out" and then quickly remove the plug again.
3. Repeat steps 1 and 2, three to four times until the head moves approximately 1 inch away from its normal resting place.
4. Replace the plug and let the product fully finish the boot cycle.

When I put an original on the glass to copy, copies come out blank but cartridge has not run out

Sounds like the issue is with the scanner bulb. May not be moving across or warming up to full capacity and therefore it is not taking an accurate picture.

Make sure the scanner is plugged in directly to the wall and not into a surge protector or a power strip. Do you have the same issue when scanning?

If it happens when you scan and it is plugged into the wall and you are in warranty you will need to replace the unit. If OOW then you should call and see if you can repair or upgrade the unit at a discounted price. If you want to speak to someone in English tell them you want mac support - they are in Canada.

The copy function prints a solid black page?

Do you see the light going all the way across? The printer may be having power issues. You should make sure it is plugged into the wall and not into a surge protector or a power strip.

If the light is not coming on then there is an issue with the scanner bulb and if the printer is plugged into the wall then you should call hp and see if you can have it replaced.
