My acer aspire one kav60 cannot connect to the wireless at home, the icon is also missing but it works perfectly fine in the office. It gets connected at home but just for a few minutes and it drops off. It was perfectly fine last week until I tried connecting it to my tv to have a better viewing

SOURCE: Acer Aspire 7730 UNABLE TO GET WIRELESS CONNECTIVITY

you need to try
1) check bios aetup screen thereis setting wireless enable/disable
and check xp control panel--system--device manager wireless driver no yellow triangle mark( which need update driver)
2) check wireless switch at laptop frront or right side, set to "on" to make sure the wireless light not on. if wireless indicate light still black means your wireless card out of works, check wireless card by open small back cover clean pins and reinstall it again

SOURCE: my acer aspire 5535 wont connect to wireless

Most Acers use an Itel form of IPN2220 Wireless card. If yours does, your using XP and your router is using WPA or WPA2 (TKIP or AES) security then you'll need to update the driver by searching for it manually using the Custom button (Hardware) in Windows update (instead of Express). This driver is not part of XP service pack 2 or 3. In my experience if you don't update to the newest common form of home wireless security (WPA2 AES) then the older formats seem to become unreliable in the way you describe

My Acer Aspire One was working perfectly untill today, now it wont connect to the internet either by erthenet cable or wireless, each time i click on the browser icon it thinks about if for a few seconds...

Here are some suggestions that may help you resolve your Acer Aspire One problem.
Try to eliminate possible causes by
1. Shut down / power off all the PCs - the Aspire One and those belonging to your son and daughter.
2. Shut down / power off all game or multi-media consoles that can connect to internet via router.
3. Power off any another network connected devices (hard drives, printers, scanners, picture frames)
4. Power off your wireless router and cable/dsl modem for about five minutes.
5. Power on your cable/dsl modem.
6. After a couple of minutes, power on your wireless router.
7. Power on your Aspire One and a few minutes after desktop is loaded, shut off its wireless.
8. On the desktop's Taskbar, make sure the Wireless Network Connection icon has a red x beside it.
9. Look for the double-screen icon representing Local Area Connection in the desktop's Taskbar.
10. If not there, click start, control panel, network connections and right-click Local Area Connection.
11. Click enable on the pop-up to enable the Local Area Connection and its icon appears with red x.
12. Connect ethernet cable from one of the router's RJ-45 LAN ports to Aspire One's ethernet port.
13. The red x should disappear from the double screen icon in the Taskbar.
14. Hovering your mouse cursor over the icon should get a pop-up with the connection's status.
15. If OK, click on your IE browser icon on the desktop.
16. If nothing happens, click start button at bottom left and click on IE in start menu or program list.
17. If nothing happens, press Ctrl and Alt and Del key together to bring up Windows Task Manager
18. In WTM, click Applications tab to see if IE Task is running.
19. If not, click Processes tab to see if iexplore.exe process is running.
20. If not, check if you can start anything else such as Notepad.
21. If nothing starts, you should consider doing a recovery using Acer eRecovery Management.
22. If IE does start, click on its Tools tab then click on Diagnose Connection Problems...
23. Follow on-screen instructions to diagnose your connection problem.
24. If successful, close down IE, remove ethernet cable and restart the Acer Aspire One.
25. Disconnect the ethernet cable and turn on the Acer One's wireless with its wireless switch.
26. Big green letters "Wireless LAN Enabled" should appear momentarily at bottom of desktop
27. Followed by a pop-up balloon over the Taskbar's wireless icon announcing connection made.
28. Open IE browser again, click on its Tools tab then click on Diagnose Connection Problems.
29. Follow on-screen instructions to diagnose your connection problem.
30. If OK, the problem may be an interaction with one of the other networked devices/systems.
31. Redo this procedure but power on one of the other devices/systems before the Aspire One.
32. Redo one at a time for each of the other device/systems.
33. If the Aspire One is found to be OK with all of the devices/systems connected one at a time
34. Then the problem may be when ALL of the devices/systems are on and connected.
For example, depending how it is setup, the router's DHCP may have run out of IP addresses.
Another example is IP address conflict due to systems not flushing their IP cache on restarting.
These two examples assume the problem exists regardless either on wired or wireless connection.
If just one of the devices/systems is causing the problem, it may have been infected with a virus.
