How to remove the agitator on a GE ProfileWPSR3120W0WW? The utube video (describing a bolt at the bottom) does not describe accurately what we have. Softener dispenser removal only yields a clear plastic dome with much below it. This dome does not pry off or pop off.

Whirlpool stylemaster 4217141 REV A Agitator/spin cycle broken upper agitator spins by hand but tub won't spin

open the lid and get a model #, sound like all you need is agit dogs # 80040. then remove top of the agitator, could be a softener dispenser. under that you will find a plastic cap, pull up with needle nose pliers. under that you will find a 7/16 or 1/2 bolt, remove the bolt and the agitator can be lifted off. the agitator can now be split into to pieces, turn the top half over and the assy with the agit dgs will fall out. simply replace and reassemble and DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN BOLT. just snug it up. should be fine.

Kenmore series 80 washer does agitate properly. The bottom vanes move but the top part does not.

Hello, welcome to FixYa.

Based on your description, the problem is likely worn agitator dogs/gears. The new dogs alone part # 3109 or what I'd recommend, part #8537434 as a kit with new hub too. An example is shown here...(double check with your complete model number to be certain)

macmarkus_260.jpg

These are very common and available at most brick & mortar parts depot's as well as on-line vendor's such as "repairclinic.com" or "searspartsdirect.com" to name a couple.

You`ll need to remove the top of the agitator to replace them.

To remove the top cover of the agitator, it should lift off by prying up gently with a flat screwdriver or puddy knife.

Under this cap there actually is a screw/fastener,( bolt ) it just may or may not look anything like a typical screw.

It could be a plastic piece with a square center and with the aid of a large flat screwdriver inserted in this location pressed into one of the corner`s in the square center (as to hold it still or turn it,I usually hold it still while turning the agitator) at the same time as holding the bottom of the agitator, turn it counter-clockwise and it will come loose. It may be the bolt style and in that case just remove the bolt and lift it out.

On Whirlpool washer (this is who built your Kenmore) throughout the years there are several types, ones with a 7/16", 1/2" or 9/16" bolt holding it in place, and the type I described. Based on the model number (11024966300) you provided yours will be the 7/16" bolt.

This is a link to a helpful "how to" video...it may have slight differences to your washer, and may refer to a different part number but essentially the same...it is still Whirlpool/Kenmore.

I have to replace an agitator in a hoover 600 MB washing mahine , but there is still small plastic part attached to the shafrt tip inside the bowl ......... i have tried to remove but i don't want to...

Hey there.
The 600MB agitator is held on by a 10mm bolt only. Not sure about the plastic part that you are describing.
All you need to do is pull the stem out (the big bit with the filter on the bottom), then unscrew the bolt from the top with a 10mm socket and ratchet (with nice long extensions), and lift the agitator off (it may need a little force as they often get stuck over the years).
Install the new bit in reverse order, and dont need to go overboard tightening the bolt as it can snap..

Coin stuck in agitator. how is agitator removed

Normally you can take the top of the agitator off with the use of a screw driver or by turning couter clockwise. Once the top is off you should see a nut or bolt. Removing this will allow the agitator to be removed.

I have a whirlpool top loading washing machine. The agitator seems to be in 2 parts, the bottom part is agitating, but the top part barely moves. Is this normal? Or, is the agitator broken?

Top-load agitator removal

The agitator on most Kenmore top loaders is a split design. The upper portion is called the auger, the bottom is the agitator. It comes apart by followng these simple steps:

1. Remove the center cap on the auger by either pulling straight up or gently placing a flat blade screwdriver into a slot located in the cap. Make sure you keep the gasket. This is used to create an air gap to keep water from leaking into the transmission, so make sure you seat it properly for a good seal when you reassemble.

2. If the auger is equipped with an inner cap underneath with a handle, remove this as well by pulling straight up.

3. Remove the center bolt of the agitator. You will have either a 7/16” hex bolt or a recessed square plastic nut. If you have the square recessed type, use a 3/8” to ½” ratchet adapter to remove.

4. With the center bolt removed, you can remove the entire assembly with the auger still attached to the top of the agitator, by grasping the bottom flange near the bottom of the tub and carefully pulling straight up. Try to keep all the parts assembled while doing this, so do not pull too hard. This will make this reassembly much easier.

If the agitator comes apart and you need assistance in how the parts go back together, refer to searspartsdirect.com for some helpful exploded view diagrams under the "Agitator, Basket and Tub" parts section.

If you have any questions, or if your agitator is different from what has been described, please post back with your complete model number (located on a nameplate around the wash tub opening) so that I may be able to provide you with better assistance. I hope this helps you.

Can't separate agitator. Have tried extreme force to separate the top from bottom. There must be some other way on this unit. Whirlpool Ultimate Care II. Have removed agitator but the two halves won't come...

There are small but strong plastic tabs that hold the 2 pieces of the dual action agitator together. Look into the center from the top with a light you will see them. If you got the agitator out. 1 bolt 7/16 socket holds it in and down, seperating the 2 pieces to get to the dogs should be easy.

GE top loading washer will not agitate

you have a broken coupler...this is a plastic and rubber part that connects the motor to the transmission.  A $20 part

When you receive advice from this website you have to understand that without the item in front of us, we are only able to provide "a best guess" as to what the problem might be based on you description of the defect.  If you haven't described a clear and precise description of the defect you decrease the chances of an accurate reply.  Thank you.
