Hello, red will hook up to the R tetminal which is you 24 volts supply power to the thermostat, yellow will hook up to Y terminal which sends power to your Ac, green goes to the G terminal is is for the indoor blower motor, and white will hook up to you W terminal which sends power to the furnace Or heat. So to recap Red-R terminal yellow- Y terminal green- G terminal White- W terminal

  • Robert Sep 06, 2011

The blue wire goes to a C terminal which is the common terminal, it is somehat like a neutral. The jumper wire stays in and the red wire will go under RH and the jumper crosses the power over. If the thermostat has batteries than most likely the common will not be needed

HI, I have a White Rodgers model 1F89-211 thermostat. All I did was move it to the opposite side of a wall into another room and now it runs backwards. I heats on cool and cools on heat. Help?

Phillip...

The SECRET is to connect it exactly as it was (before).

The screws on the control are color coded

R,W, Y AND Green... TYPICALLY that MATCHES THE TERMINALS OF THE SAME COLOR inside you heater controller.

Yes ... Red, White... Yellow...

What you need to do is look at the picture you took... or the notes you took BEFORE disconnecting those wires...

ELSE...

Go to where the HEATER CONTROL BOARD IS...

Pull the front cover... Snap a picture for your memoirs...

and write a TRUTH TABLE

AT THE HEATER... TAKE NOTES...!!

RED SCREW = (for example red wire)
Yellow =
Green =
White =

BACK AT THE Thermostat Screws:

RED = (
SAME COLOR WIRE as at the HEATER)
Yellow = (SAME COLOR
WIRE AS THE HEATER)
Green = (
SAME COLOR WIRE AS THE HEATER)
White = (
SAME COLOR WIRE AS THE HEATER)

You should be fine...

Need help understanding how to wire a new programmeable thermostat. I currently have a White Rodgers 1F73 model (non-programmeable) connected. I am confused with the instructions on how to connect the...

the black wire is your common wire, you need to program your thermostat, in the advance mode, to tell the t-stat if your heat pump reversing valve is energized on cooling or heating, is the orange wire connected to your t-stat.= w2/o/b

Hook ignition wire

This is a typical 5 wire setup. The colors can change depending on the person installing the system, meaning if the installer liked using BLUE for cooling instead of YELLOW, that's how he hooked them up. If YELLOW wasn't available, they could of used BLUE or BLACK, and visa-versa. But, the wiring below is the most common. If you have a heat pump system, it will be slightly different. Hope this helps!

R- Red- Power 24v
G- Green- Fan
W- White- Heat
Y- Yellow- Cooling
C- Blue- Common

I am replacing a White-Rodgers thermostat with a Hunter 44155C and dont know where to connect the wires. I have white, red, green, blue, and yellow wires and none are labeled as to what they are.

The Yellow wire is for cooling, the white is for heating, the red is for power, the green is for blower fan, the blue is your common wire, all you should have to do is color code the wires to the thermostat. The thermostat should have the colors labeled R,W1,G,Y,B or C for common if it's wired correctly at the Air Handler or evaporator. The blue wire should go to B, or C.

Installing a new home heating thermostat, but theres a #4 terminal that I am not sure what the use is for. What wire is attached there?

If you do not see a RH/RC terminal then your red wire goes to terminal 4, do you have a heat pump system or a forced air furnace? If it is a forced air furnace green wire goes to the G terminal, yellow or blue wire goes to the Y terminal, the white wire should go to the W terminal and the red wire should go to the RH terminal, (leave jumper from RH to RC terminal.

A duo therm thermostat (p/n 3105058) was removed because it would not operate the air conditioner/heater in a firan fireside camper. it was knocked loose from the wall damaging it.the thermostat is for use...

a. Remove the cover of the thermostat.
b. Connect the RED wire from the air conditioner
to the “RC” terminal on the thermostat.
c. Connect the “YELLOW” wire from the air conditioner
to the “Y” terminal on the thermostat.
d. Connect the “BLUE” wire from the air conditioner
to the “H” terminal on the thermostat.
e. Connect the “ORANGE” wire from the air conditioner
to the “G” terminal on the thermostat.
f. Push the thermostat wires into hole in wall and
fill excess hole with insulation.
g. Mount thermostat base to the wall with screws
provided.
h. Check all thermostat wires on base to ensure
they are completely clear of the bimetal coil of
the thermostat. Adjust if necessary.
i. Replace thermostat cover.
If nothing operates on the air conditioner, remove the
return air grille assembly and verify the red, orange, yellow
and blue wires are properly connected (red-to-red,
orange-to-orange, etc.).
Next, disconnect the red wires and check for 12 volt
DC between the red wire from roof section and the orange
or blue wire from roof section. If no voltage received,
refer to Section F2. If voltage is received, the
problem lies with the thermostat or thermostat wires.
Next, disconnect all 4 wires (red, orange, yellow and
blue) from the thermostat. With the thermostat set on
COOL mode, FAN mode set on AUTO and HIGH, and
temperature selector set lower than the room temperature. Check for continuity between terminal RC (red wire)
and terminal G (orange wire); and RC (red wire) and
terminal H (blue wire). If continuity is achieved on each,
proceed with the next step.
Set fan switch to LOW. Continuity should NOT be present
between terminal RC and Terminal H, but present between
the other terminals (Y & G) and terminal RC.
If all of the previous checks are good, the thermostat is
good, do not replace it. If any one of the previous checks
are not correct, replace the thermostat.
