Hello. I have a Sony Bravia KDL-40U2000 which will not turn on. I press the power button, it clicks and then turns off again

  • garryboxall Sep 10, 2011

Found the problems. I've replaced capacitors rated from 470uf to 2200uf. This fixed the power supply problem. There was another problem on the inverter board. The fuse marked F003 (63v @ 0.5a) had blown, so I replaced this along with the capacitors and the TV now works fine.

I replaced all the capacitors just to be on the safe side.

    Thanks for your help!

Hi, where did you source the replacement F003 fuse from?

It can be bad power supply due to bad caps, over current draws as mention above by the circuits such as the backlights inverter boards. Inspect the power supply module first, try disconnecting the power cables to the backlights circuits to see if the TV will come back on.

The power trip off means that the main board has a short and so there is a high current drain which triggers the protect circuit to work and switch off.
So to trace it requires that the different driver sections be checked for possible high drain or heating. Check for dy points soldering.
