If you're computer freezes up on the Gateway POST (Power ON Self Test) screen, try the following:
1. Disconnect any external devices on the computer (i.e. USB flashdrives, mouse, external HDD, etc) and reboot.
2. If same issue, try to take out the battery and turn the computer ON with the AC adapter plugged-in.
3. If same issue, try to press F2 or F1 and check if it goes to the BIOS screen. If it does, try to check if the HDD is getting detected and set the default settings by pressing F9 and F10 to save and exit (your BIOS might look different from screenshot below)

If the above methods gives you the same issue, you're HDD or motherboard might be failing and you need to call Gateway at 1-800-846-2000 to have the unit serviced.
