Dishes do not clean, although the water is hot and the soap dispenses. Dishes and glasses have a cloudy residue at times, and dishes sometimes have small food particles baked onto the surfaces.

Hi

If you are noticing that the dishes are not clean, then there are a few things to check for. Check the soap powder if it's kept in a dry environment. Also try replacing the powder with something like a gel or liquid. Next thing to check for is the water pressure and fill valve. Check if the water is filling in and the spray arms are throwing the water with enough pressure. Try and listen to the sound if you hear a proper spraying action sound.

If it seems as a low water pressure then check the fill valve. Now, check if dishwasher is draining the water or not. While the dishwasher is working check whether the dishwasher is draining and there is not much left out water after the cycle is complete. Try cleaning the spray arm with a soft brush. The water temperature plays a major role in cleaning of dishes. The temp should be between 125 and 150 F for dishwasher to clean the dishes. Hope this helps...

My dishwasher was working fine until yesterday, now it doesn't seem to use all the soap, I tried 2 times and there was still soap left over.

Hello there:
It doesn't get the dishes clean dot_lineone.gif 1. No water
Make sure you get water to the dishwasher. Check to see if the watershut-off valve (located under the sink) is open. If you get water tothe dishwasher, but there is still no water inside during the fillcycle, the problem might be with a faulty water valve (located at thebottom of the dishwasher, behind the kick panel, on either side), inwhich case replace the water valve. There are also screens and filters that need to be cleaned to ensure proper operation so please check these as well

2. Not enough water
If there is not enough water, the dishes would not get cleaned. Thiscould be caused by a partially closed water shut-off valve (locatedunder the sink), or a faulty dishwasher water valve (located at thebottom of the dishwasher, behind the kick panel, on either side).

3. Clogged spay arms
There is usually two, sometimes three spray arms in a dishwasher. Makesure there is no debris blocking the holes inside each spray arm. thee are also screens and filters under these arms that may need toi be cleaned

4. Water temperature is too low
To get the best results, the water has to be at 120 degrees Fahrenheit when entering the dishwasher.if not increase the hot water heater temp

5. . Smoky film on dishes and glasses
This problem occurs due to excessive calcium build up inside thedishwasher. Try cleaning you dishwasher using a dishwasher cleaner. There are a few out there, we recommend Dishwasher Magic®.

Soap

1. You have poor pressure coming from the pump. fix this by removing the racks from dishwasher and removing/cleaning the intake filter to the pump. It is located on the floor of the dishwasher. Use a wet vac if you have it to clean the entire area and anything that might be stuck down in the pump. you would be suprised what you find doen there. Don't be afraid to remove a few phillips screws to remove a cover to the impeller. After this all should work better/cleaner AND soap dish will be washed out too.

2. make sure dishes are not stacked to block the soap dish from water spray arms.

3. remove spray arms and clean them out, especially the spray tips. Hard objects will stick in their spray tips.

Good Luck

Hi,

Dishwasher - Soap Stuck in Cup If you have dishwasher detergent stuck in the soap cup after a full cycle, please check for the following conditions:

  • The water temperature should be at 120 degrees (140 degrees if your dishwasher has water heating capability). Check your water temperature Check your water temperature.

  • Make sure the soap cup is not blocked by anything.

  • Allow the dishwasher to fill and make sure it is getting a proper amount of water. The dishwasher should fill for about 90 seconds. On permatuf models, the water should measure 3/8" above the island near the center of the tub. On all other models, the water should measure about 1/2" below the heating element.

  • Check the lower spray arm for any blockage in spray holes or items that would restrict its turning.

  • Make sure the soap cup has opened at the end of the cycle.

  • Check the sump area inside the dishwasher for any restrictions.

Dishwasher does not clean dishes, soap does not fully go away

Water Inlet Valve

A dishwasher's water inlet valve is its most common part to fail. When your dishes are not being fully cleaned, quite often a faulty water inlet valve is to blame. Test your dishwasher's water inlet valve, and if it is no longer functioning as it should, you will have to replace it.
Heating Element

Water temperature is a key element in achieving clean dishes. A dishwasher's heating element is not designed to heat the water that enters it. Rather, the heating element is designed to maintain the heat of the water that enters the dishwasher. Its a good idea to run the hot water in your sink for a couple of minutes before you run the dishwasher. Just to make sure the water is nice and hot before it enters the dishwasher. If the water is unable to stay hot, it can adversely affect your dishwasher's cleaning ability.
Filter/Drain Grate

There is a filter in your dishwasher. Its function is to keep large particles of food and foreign objects away from the pump. Many of the newly-manufactured dishwashers have self-cleaning filters, and routine cleaning isn't a concern. However, some other dishw ashers need to have the filter removed and cleaned regularly. If the filter or grate is clogged or blocked with debris, it may interfere with the normal functioning of your dishwasher. Consult your owner's manual for specific directions for removing your dishwasher's filter and cleaning it.

  • . Detergent or Detergent Cup

It could just be that you aren't using enough soap to completely wash your dishes. Your dishwasher may be designed to dispense soap at two different times during the wash cycle. If you don't fill all of the detergent cups, then the diswasher will lose a cleaning cycle. Also, if you use a gel-type detergent, try switching to a powered kind. Powders tend to dissolve better in hot water. And don't buy in bulk. Detergents are most effective in the first two weeks. After that, they decrease in potency.
Alternatively, your dishwasher's detergent cup could be defective in some way. It is possible that it is gunked up full of built up detergent, and a thorough cleaning may be enough to get it working again. If that doesn't do the trick, you probably need to replace the entire detergent cup assembly. If your cup isn't even opening, My dishwasher detergent cup won't open.

    Cycle Selector Switch
Sometimes a dishwasher's cycle selector switch is the reason why dishes are not coming completely clean. Test your selector switch to determine whether or not it has become defective. If it has, replace it.

Maytag jetclean eq plus dishwasher: soap problem

This could be due to 2 problems: not enough water or water is not being pumped hard enough through the system. The 'not enough water' is easy to check - open the door in the middle of a wash cycle. If you have enough water (about 1" or more) then that is probably ok. The 'not pumping hard enough' could be as simple as plugged up filters and holes in the spray arms. Remove the racks and disassemble the lower spray arm and the filter assembly all the way down past the screen. Clean the arm holes, throughly clean the screen, clean everything. Pull the top spray arm and throughly clean the spray holes there. Put it all together and run a cycle. You should see a pronounced increase in the sound of the water spraying around. This should fix your problem - it did for me.

    Dispenser doesn't open

this is actualy a water flow issue. usually caused by debris in the sump area. shut off the power, remove spray arm, top filter, ect. keep taking things out till there is nothing left to remove...if it has a screw. you will find a screen with a small blade that will be plugged. clean the screen. reasemble and happy dish washing.

    Kitchenaid Superba Dishwasher

gagaweaver, couple of things you want to check here. Check the upper spray arm for any clogged holes or cracks along the edges. Position it in the 12:00 position and run the dishwasher for a little, open the door and verify that it has rotated. Make sure the water entering the dishwasher is min. 120 degrees, use a thermometer. Makes sure that there is no large pans or dishes blocking the upper spray arm from spraying onto the inner door. If all that checks out. You will have to remove the lower spray arm, filter cover and chopper cover to make sure the chopper screen is not coated or plugged up. If it is, it will prevent a good flow of water to the upper spray arm. Catriver..post back.
