Intake Cold water filling into machine while turned off

You have either a faulty solenoid valve on the cold intake or you may have knocked some limescale into the valve while changing the pipes. Try some descaler in the valve first and operate a few times. Hope that makes sense!

When cold water is selected the washer does not start or if cold rinse is selected it does not fill or go any further in the cycles

Cold water valve is faulty. on hotter washes it will fill with hot but all rinses are cold fill so will stop waiting for water at first rinse.

When my machine gets to its rinse cycle it works for about 30 seconds and then all the lights start flashing and it stops working

Hi,

You most likely have a faulty cold inlet valve. When the machine gets into the rinse cycle, it needs to fill up with cold water.

Depending on whether you have a top loader or front loader, there may be a seperate valve for the rinse water intake on a front loader.

Let me know the make and model of your machine and I can help you identify and replace the inlet valve.

Ash

Hi there my hotpoint washing machinewma 54 fills up without the machine being on

Hello. your fill valve is faulty and needs to be replaced.

here is how the fill valve is supposed to work:
The fill valve--which is about the size of a coffee cup--is sometimes also called a "water inlet valve." It controls the entry of hot and cold water into the machine. The valve has three major components:

  • A hot-water solenoid

  • A cold-water solenoid

  • A mixing valve body

The inlet valve has three hoses connected to it, for :

  • The hot water from the house

  • The cold water from the house

  • The water directed into the washing machine's inner tub (either hot or cold, or both) to fill it with water

When electricity flows to one or both solenoids, water flows through the valve into the washing machine's inner tub. When the electricity stops, the water also stops.

Fisher and Paykel washing machine fills and won't stop filling...

If the water stops when you shut if off at the wall you have a bad cold inlet valve, or the valve is getting a constant "open" command from the controller and thus the controller is faulty.

Matag alantis no cold water

check to see if you have power to the fill valve when the cold water should be going in;(reverse the connectors on the fill valve) i.e. hot now will not go in... replace the fill valve: (buy it at an appliance parts store) (inexpensive) it's an easy replacement job

My whirlpool front load washing machine accept hot water and no cold water entering on the machine.

The water fill valve - The water fill valve is a mechanical and electrical part, the coils on the valve need electricity to mechanically open the valve to allow the water to flow into the washer....myth....the washer pumps water into itself...no, it does not. The fill valve opens and the house water pressure pushes the water into the washing machine.
No cold water or no hot water - The fill valve has two coils, one for the hot water and one for the cold water. It is possible that one of the coils can fail and you loose that filling ability. If the cold water coil quits, the hot will still work and during warm fill you will get hot water only and during a cold fill you will get no water at all. If the hot coils quits, you will still have cold water fill, cold water only on a warm setting and no water on a hot fill setting. You can test a fill valve live for 120 volts, power to a fill valve coil and no fill = a bad fill valve. You can also test the coils for continuity, no continuity = a bad fill valve. Some Maytag washers have a fuse in the fill valve circuit, if this fuse let go the washer will not fill. Fill valves can also from time to time stick open and not stop filling. If you have to shut off the fill valves to stop the water from filling in the washer, you have a bad fill valve and you will have to replace it.
