Please check your model number. Most Maytag dryer model numbers have three letters at the beginning of the model number. The third character is either an E or a G for dryers (electric or gas). If your model number is MDE6400AYW, then the current direct link to the owner's manual is https://www.maytag.com/content/dam/global/documents/200811/owners-manual-2206695-RevB.pdf .
Some of them timer can be oiled, (just a little zoom oil no wd-40) if it is real hard to turn, the knob can become cracked and the timer motor itself it may not have enough ump to move the gears and sometimes oiling the timer and moving it around many times loosens em up.
Change your timer. Your timer has gone bad. If you give me the serial number and make and model I can give you some places to go to buy a new timer. They are fairly cheap about 25 dollars or so
Can anyone help me? I have a Maytag Atlantis that my parents just gave me and my wife. Unfortunately, they accidently removed the model number sticker in the door area. I need to buy a new timer but no one can find which timer to get without the model number. Via the internet, I think I narrowed it down to either the MDE7400AYQ or the MDE7400AYW....but they both look identical to me. Can anyone tell me what the difference between the two is so I can go get the part?
what you can do is go to www.repairclinic.com. go to parts search and type in your dryer model number. it will show you all the parts that your dryer takes. they will show the timer that fits your dryer and just buy it.
