The display is dim and hard to see.

First, make sure that your brightness is turned up. You can access this from the menu by selecting "Display" then adjusting the display between 50% & 100%.

If the brightness is at 100% and the display is still dim, this is an indication that there is a problem with the backlight that lights up the LCD display from behind.

The backlight is integrated into the LCD display, so the entire display needs to be replaced. Was the unit dropped? If so, perhaps the LCD flex cable pulled out of the connector, slightly from one side, disconnecting the backlight. We strongly suggest that you don't try to repair the unit yourself. Additional damage can occur.

Dim display for compaq evo n620c laptop

If your laptop appears to boot up and the hard disk LED flashes, then the problem is probably a back light fault. This can be a faulty inverter or a faulty CCFL lamp. Please click on this link and follow my instructions to identify the fault and possible fix :- http://www.fixya.com/support/r3598095-faulty_laptop_lcd_screen

I have an acer laptop model no. kav60.. it was dropped on the tiles floor. when I turned it on the the light is dim. I need to use a flashlight for me to be able see the screen?

hmmm...that usually means that there is a connection issue inside the lcd screen/video card, which is under the keyboard at top end

is it under warranty

this can be a really weird repair.

Dropped my LG CF360 cell phone on the tile floor. phone operates fine but screen is now blank. it appeared to be fine immediately after dropping it but now the screen is blank? any ideas?

yes. this is a common fault with any phone that falls on the tile floor, especially if it lands using the screen(even if it doesnt, the screen might still be affected). the only solution is to send it to a repairer because it would require the attention of an expert due to the crack or damage done to the main display screen which in most cases would have to be replaced with a brand new one

Digital clock display read out is EXTREMELY dim even after adjusting brightness and contrast controls

Hello Jinx55,
the problem is the display unit itself or the cable that goes from the display to the electronic (Most likely the dispaly itself).
The display will need to be replaced. You can contact Miele directly at

Display

It does not auto dim, it just remembers the settings. As soon as it has a GPS fix and knows the correct time it will switch to either day or night mode, and use the last setting you chose for that mode. Just give it a minute or so to get that GPS fix.
Mapsource, you mean the one on the PC? That you can upgrade by downloading it from Garmin, If you mean the maps on the GPS, you gave to order the DVD from Garmin and pay for the unlock key.
