It sounds like you may have a print job stuck in the printer queue. This will happen from time to time. So we need to clear the memory on the system.

To do this unplug all connection from the printer this include the power cord. Next hold down the power button for about 45 seconds. This will make sure that all the power is cleared from the system. Next reconnect the printer to see if you still have trouble.

If you still have trouble check all computer that you own and make sure there is not any print jobs in the print queue. If you still have trouble and/or need help checking the print queue let me know the make and model of your computer, as well as the operating system you have as this could be a configuration issue.

My MP530 won't print. It isn't coming up with an error and all the inks are fine.

I know this sounds rather patronising but are you sure you have removed the tape on the black in cartridge before you fitted a new one. You would be amazed how many people forget to do it.

The possibility of the printer roller is dirty. To clean the roller, do
1. Press the START
2. Select Printers and Faxes
3. Right click Canon PIXMA MP530, select Printing Preferences
4. Select Maintenance
5. Select Roller cleaning, and Bottom plate cleaning

Can you do macs? how do i print duplex with this printer, duplex is suported by my mac

The Canon-supplied MP530 driver doesn't have duplex printing as a print option. Mac OS 10.5 has Gutenprint drivers built-in for a number of popular printers, including the Canon MP500 which is a near match for the MP530 and includes the two-sided option for printing.

With the MP530 plugged into your Mac (or, presumably, available over the network) go to the Add Printer wizard ( System Preferences > Print & Fax > + ). Pick MP530, name the printer something like "MP530 Gutenprint" and under "Print Using:" choose "Select a driver to use...", select "Canon PIXMA MP500 - Gutenprint v5.1.3" and then Add the printer.

The MP500 Gutenprint driver isn't a perfect substitute for the MP530 one, however, so you should do this in addition to installing the proper MP530 driver from the Canon website and adding the printer using that driver with a name like just "MP530" or "MP530 Canon". In a year or two of using the Gutenprint driver I've only once had a print job that wouldn't render correctly (some missing lines on the printout), and for that one time I had to switch to the Canon-supplied driver to get it to work. All the other times I find it very convenient to have two-sided printing available as an option.

The two sided printing isn't particularly fast, but it's a whole lot more convenient than manually printing the odd pages and then the even pages.

If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it and give a testimonial for my response

Thanks, Joe

If you double-click on the printer, there is written:

The printer is connected.

After a while the message "Error 311: The printer is in use or an error has occured." appears and no pages are printed...not all printer is capable on print server. just because it supports Mac on USB doesn't mean it will work on Print server

it seems that printer are not compatible

Error message

Normal 0 Driver could be corrupt.
Disconnect the printer or at least be sure it is turned off. I'd do both and reinstall the CD software program that came with the printer. When the software program asks you to connect the printer to the USB port, do so and it should again work properly.
Hope this helps. Bud
