They are purely a numerical identifier of when it was made, year, day, number on the shift, whether it Joe or Billy who did final inspection.

With a MODEL number I can find them easily with just 'make model manual'.

Yes, it probably is, if you know the brand and correct model number of your AC unit. Also, if you haven't already, contact the Ace Hardware store you purchased it from. They can also get you an Owner's Manual.

I wonder if you actually have a Mac OS on your Toshiba laptop, as this is nearly impossible (only for experts): 1) If you purchased from an authorized seller (I doubt it) - return the laptop for replacement.
2) If you can't claim anything from the seller - install the operation system yourself. Yes it does matter. XP was configured for the old Toshiba and this will only work if both Toshiba laptops are exactly the same model.
To get your new Toshiba operating, put the new hard drive with the Vista operating system back in the Toshiba laptop.
To transfer your data from the old hard drive, purchase a USB adapter hard drive case and place the old hard drive inside this case. This will then be an external USB hard drive.
Plug this USB hard drive into the new Toshiba's USB port and it will detect it as an external storage/hard drive. You can then open the various folders and files and copy the data files to your new Toshiba.
To free up disk space on this USB hard drive, delete the Windows folder, Program Files folder and other folders that are no longer needed.
Use this hard drive as a backup hard drive etc.

1st. Contact Harvey Norman - Auburn and ask them how to get the Windows 7 upgrade.
2nd. If they cannot assist you, then contact Microsoft

Thats beacuse the Vista on your laptop is an OEM. That means that the store buys keys from Microsoft and install the OS with one of the keys they bough. So you wont get a cd, and if you crash your laptop you have to buy a new licens. Therefore be sure that you make a GOOD BACKUP of your system if you one day may need it.

Its very usual that you dont get a OS on a cd when you buy a computer today. Well, i have got any for the last 4-5 years on my buys.

On your laptop there is a OS key, if you ever need support from Microsoft, register your OS and that key will get you all the help you need. But fist of all..MAKE A BACKUP!

You can purchase Windows XP/Vista online or in any local office store. You will have to spend an evening downloading drivers from Windows/Toshiba and perhaps some third party.

I do not think your laptop came with a recovery partitian.

Ok...I would first step get the Network card (nic) model and driver info...this is the first thing you will need when you do the restore...it will make it alot easier to find drivers/etc.
