Photo of the Asus M2N78-LA motherboard,

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?lc=en&cc=us&docname=c01421635&dlc=en

This photo also shows the orientation (Direction), that the motherboard is sitting in a computer case.

To the very bottom right is the Front Panel header.

The front plastic panel of the computer is the Front Panel.

The area of pins on the motherboard that the cables, (Wires) from the Front Panel connect to, is the Front Panel header. ( F_PANEL )

The Front Panel header, is the black rectangular shaped plastic block, that is sitting vertically on the motherboard.

Has two columns of pins.
4 on the left side, 5 on the right side. Makes it look as though there is a pin missing, at the top left corner.

I'm going to number the pins.

Pins on the Left side starting at the Top, going down;

Pins 1, 3, 5, and 7.

Pins on the Right side starting at the Top, going down,

Pins 2, 4, 6, 8, and 10.

A) Pins 1 and 3 are for the Power On switch. (Power On button)

B) Pins 5 and 7 are for the Power On LED light.
Pin 7 is for the Positive ( + ) wire.
(If the LED light is dim, reverse the wires around)

C) Pins 4 and 6 are for a Reset switch, IF a Reset switch is used. (Reset button)

D) Pins 8 and 10 are for the HarDDrive activity LED light.
Pin 10 is for the Positive wire. ( + )
(If the HDD LED light is dim when operating, switch the wires around)

Pin 2 at the top Right is NOT used. (NC. Not Connected)

For additional questions please post in a Comment.
I am looking at a motherboard manual in PDF file form, for the Asus M2N78-LA motherboard.

Regards,
joecoolvette

Transferring motherboard from Gateway SX2801-07E to another case. How do I connect the motherboard front panel headers?

  1. Identify the headers: Locate the front panel headers on the new case and on the motherboard. Make sure that you have identified the correct headers and that they are compatible with each other.
  2. Check the pinout: Refer to the manual for the new case to determine the pinout for the front panel headers. Make sure that it matches the pinout listed for the motherboard, as mentioned above.
  3. Connect the wires: Use the pinout information to connect the wires from the new case to the appropriate pins on the motherboard. Make sure that each wire is securely connected and that there are no loose wires that could cause a short circuit.
  4. Connect the HDD LED: The HDD LED can be connected to pins 13 and 14 of the front header (LEDH1).
  5. Connect the power LED: The power LED can be connected to pins 3 and 4 of the front header (LEDH1).
  6. Connect the reset switch: The reset switch can be connected to pins 7 and 8 of the front header (LEDH1).
  7. Connect the power switch: The power switch can be connected to pins 10 and 11 of the front header (LEDH1).
Make sure that you connect the wires correctly and securely, as an incorrect connection can cause damage to the motherboard or the front panel components.

I have new case name VJ4000 and I just want put SR5610F motherboard in it .. but problem is that i need to know abt power led , hdd led , reset sw , .. there s green white some blue and white wires too.. i...

If you have the case and the board, you should also have documentation on at least the board pinout. It is unlikely that you will receive detailed help here.
If you do not have the board docs, go to the mfr.'s website and download them.
Case makers do not consistently use the same color codes but you should be able to physically see where the leads go and if they are improperly connected, there is little chance of any damage resulting so if an LED doesn't light, reverse its leads on the pins assigned to it.

KM18G pro motherboard power connection, reset sw, power sw, etc.

Hi.

You can download the manual for your motherboard here.

Inside you will find information of where does each connector go. Each connector on the case has a marking on it (HDD, PWR, RST or similar) which stands for hard disk LED, power button, reset button and so on. Connect it to the right place, and problem is solved.

If you need any further assistance, feel free to ask.
