Dear alexlewis, the problem is caused
by either software or hardware. The proposed solutions for both are the
following.
Software:
The phone needs to be flashed with the firmware of the same or newer revision
with the appropriate FS and language packs. This is complicated for an average
user. If in warranty it can be done for free at any SE repair service center.
Remember if you are in the EU the warranty is 24 months by law.
Hardware:
The phones Motherboard is defective and a replacement motherboard is needed.
This repair can be done only in a SE repair service center. Another possibility (minimal) is the flex LCD cable (If you know how to repair phones the LCD Flex cable costs 5 Euro delivered from Hong Kong or China at Ebay)
TIP:
I have seen this happening in many phones and most of them were hardware
faults. (70%)

Sony Ericsson F305 supprots only Java softwares. Download the java apllications which you need from www.getjar.com after selecting your particular mobile model. The extension of the application should be ".Jar" Then transfer this jar file to your mobile and try installing it. The installation files transfered from other mobiles using bluetooth may not be compactible with your mobile. If your problem still exist, then activate the GRPS, go to wap.getjar.com and try downloading the application directly to your mobile. This should work fine. I hope this is helpful to you.
