First, make sure your battery is fully charged. Then try to do a "Reset" .... by pressing and holding down the ON/OFF button for 5 seconds (or a lot more) until the device powers on again. Yes, at times, it may take a minute or more ! of holding that button down.

SOURCE: SD Card not showing in my Tomtom go 720 to play MP3

If you want to play mp3 songs from sd card then create mp3 folder and place all the songs in side that folder. Now when you go to Juke box menu it will scan all the songs and you will be able to play them the way you want..

SOURCE: Tomtom Go920 device is not recognized by computer

I had this issue with my Go930 and inserted an SD card into the slot underneath and, hey presto, it now works. You dont have to use the SD card, but to get the Home2 software to recognise it, there must be one present the first time you "pair it" with this software. I can now use it without the card present

Hi, I have tom tom one. Whenever I try to turn it on, it gets on but then it starts displaying the screen showing sd card coming out of the unit having red cross on the sd card. It keeps showing this pic....

Please follow the steps below to solve the issue. This is caused by an update. If you are not sure, how to do this, call TomTom help line for assistance.

STEP 1 - Find the mapsettings.cfg

- Connect your device to the computer and switch it on
- On your PC, click on My Computer to access your TomTom drive. On a Mac you can double click on it on your desktop
- Inside the TomTom drive, you will see a list of folders (on Windows these are yellow, on a Mac they are blue) as well as some loose files
- Please find the folder that is named as the map on your device i.e. United_Kingdom_and_Republic_of_Ireland_or_Western_Europe etc
- Double click on this folder to access it and please find the file called mapsettings.cfg
- Please delete this file

STEP 2 - Creating a manual backup of your map

- Inside the TomTom drive, you will see a list of folders (on Windows these are yellow, on a Mac they are blue) as well as some loose files
- Please find the folder that is named as the map on your device i.e. United_Kingdom_and_Republic_of_Ireland_or_Western_Europe etc
- Right click on this folder and copy it
- Go to the desktop of your computer and paste the map folder

IMPORTANT: We advise you to follow the next steps ONLY if you have made a successful backup of your map.

STEP 3 - Format your TomTom device

IMPORTANT: ONLY continue if you were successful in making the back up of your device

For PC users:
- Open My Computer. Right click on the TomTom device drive and click 'Format'. Make sure Quick Format is not selected.

For Mac users:
- From the Finder menu, click 'Go' > 'Utilities', then double click 'Disk Utility'. In the 'Disk Utility', select the volume below the TomTom disk. Make sure the 'Format' is set to 'MS-DOS (FAT)' and click 'Erase'.

STEP 4 - Remove old files from your computer

- Open TomTom HOME
- Click on 'Manage my device'
- Click on the 'Items on computer' tab
- Tick the options for 'Applications' and 'Voices'
- Click on 'Remove items from computer'

STEP 5 - Install the software on your device

- Click on 'Update my device'
- Tick the options for 'Application' and at least one voice (eg, Jane)
- Please do NOT select your map at this stage.
- Click on 'Update and Install'
- Click 'Done'
Your navigation device starts and then connects to the computer again. HOME may offer more than one application update. Please repeat this step until no further application updates are offered.

STEP 6 - Restore the map

- Find the map you copied to your desktop and copy it again
- On your computer go to 'Start' -> 'My Computer' and open the TomTom drive
- Right click anywhere and select 'Paste'

STEP 7 - Check the Device

- Eject the drive (on Windows, go back to My Computer and right click on it and select Eject; on a Mac, drag the drive into the trash)
- Please disconnect your device and let it load up as normal
- You should now be able to set up the device as normal

Cant get updates

1) Format the Memory Card via Windows
2) Remove Card/Device from Computer
3) Plug Device/Card into Computer
4) Open up TOMTOM Home
5) It most likely will not recognise the Card/Device as a TOMTOM but will update it to a previous firmware. Keep following On-Screen prompts until fully updated.
6) Unplug your Card/Device, turn on and enjoy :)

Hope this helps!

Can not use computer voices on my tomtom 520t

On your device you may have a corrupt file that is causing the noise distortion when you use the computer voices. The solution to this is to completely remove the software from your device and reinstall it again as described in the steps below. Please ensure that you have the latest TomTom Home software installed on your computer:-

You can download and install the latest version of TomTom HOME from the following link:
http://www.tomtom.com/home

Once you have the latest version of TomTom Home installed, please follow these steps:-

STEP 1. Creating a Manual backup of your TomTom

• Charge your unit for at least two hours (preferably via the home charger)
• Perform a reset on your device (see: http://www.tomtom.com/6965 )

If you have not made a backup yet you can do so by making a manual backup of your TomTom. To do this, please look at the following web page:-

http://www.tomtom.com/3171#backup

• Connect your TomTom to the computer
• Open My Computer, you should see the TomTom as a removable drive, double click into it. (on a mac you will see the TomTom as a disk drive on your desktop)
• You will see a list of files and folders.
• Copy all of the folders on the TomTom, one by one to the backup folder. DO NOT copy the 'Loquendo' folder.
• This can take up to 1 hour to complete depending on the device.
• If you get any error messages while copying, move on to the next folder and copy that to the backup folder.
• If possible, please make a note of any error message that occur while copying the folders, and make a note of which folder causes the error message.

IMPORTANT: We advise you to follow the next steps ONLY if you have made a successful backup of your device as described in step 1. If you are unable to complete step 1, please reply back with a list of yellow folders that you have managed to successfully copy to your PC and also reply back with any error messages that you receive at this point.

STEP 2. Format the hard-disk,

• Open 'My Computer'
• Right click on the TomTom icon (the device should be seen in drive E,F,G,H,I etc) and select 'Format'.
• Do a full format by selecting FAT 32 and click on Start, do not select 'quick format'. The TomTom is now formatted.
• Disconnect the TomTom from the computer and switch it on. It will load up with a red cross on the screen.
• Reset the TomTom with a paperclip in the reset hole for 30 seconds, see http://www.tomtom.com/6965 in how to do this.
• Once Reset, switch the TomTom off, disconnect it from the computer and then switch it back on again, it will still show a red cross on the screen.

STEP 3. Restore the Folders to the TomTom

• Connect your TomTom back to the computer and make sure it is switched on
• Go to your backup folder on your desktop, double left click into it. You will see all of your backup folders.
• Copy the folders one by one to the TomTom by right clicking on the folder, select copy then open My Computer, double left click onto the TomTom drive and choose paste.
• Turn the device off (with the on/off switch) and disconnect it from the computer.
• Switch the TomTom back on.

STEP 4. Update your device

• Open TomTom Home
• Connect your device to the PC
• A list of updates should appear, if not, click on Update my Go
• Select only the program application update.
• Click on Update and Install.
• Once Installed, open TomTom Home
• Click on 'Device -> Disconnect Device'.
• Turn the device off (with the on/off switch) and disconnect it from the computer.
• Switch your TomTom On to complete the installation.

The Application is now installed, and your TomTom should now be working.

STEP 5. Run the Clear Flash Tool

• Connect your TomTom to the computer
• Close TomTom Home. (on a PC, make sure you close TomTom Home from the system tray in the bottom right hand corner of your screen by the computer clock)
• Download and run the clear flash tool from : http://www.tomtom.com/updates/clear_flash/clear_flash.exe Make sure your TomTom is connected to the computer and switched on when you do this.

• Once Installed, open TomTom Home
• Click on 'Device -> Disconnect Device'.
• Turn the device off (with the on/off switch) and disconnect it from the computer.
• Switch your TomTom On to complete the installation.

STEP 6. Install a computer voice

• Connect your TomTom to the computer
• Open TomTom Home
• Click on 'Add maps, traffic and voices -> computer voices
• select the voice of Kate and install it.

The Computer voice is now installed, and your TomTom should now be working.

Tomtom go730t, switch on and get start up screen then displays "no maps found".

Make sure that you have the map installed first of all, or you have the SD card inserted correctly (if using one).

If that is OK, try resetting the device. To reset your TomTom device, do the following:
  1. Charge your TomTom
Charge your device for at least 2 hours before trying to turn it on again. Make sure the charging light on your device is on.
  2. Remove the SD card
If your device uses an SD card, remove it.
  3. Reset your device
Use a straightened paper clip, or something similar, to push the reset button for 15 seconds. The reset button is located on the underside of the device.
  4. Turn your device on
Press the On/off button for at least 5 seconds.
  5. Insert the SD card
If your device uses an SD card, insert the SD card.
Should that still not help, try to download and install the map from TomTom website. Instructions HERE

Hope that helps! Should you have any further questions, please feel free to post them here.

P.S. – I would greatly appreciate a FixYa!rating if the solution I provided fixed or helped you resolve your problem.

Tomtom one xl freezing on start up screen

OK... I found an amature solution;

- Do a soft reset of the system, with the paperclip (see tomtom site)
- Put the device on the docking station and connect it to power as well as to your computer. While it's turned off
- Turn on the TOMTOM while connected to the computer
- Start the TOMTOM Home software
- And it made connection again
- Disconnect the device via the software
- Take the device out of the docking station
- Turn it off and on once

This worked for me, my next step would have been the support desk. Grtz Derk
