Oil coming out breather

It possible that the PVC is stuck closed or the hose attach form the PVC to intake manifold is either pinch shut or the hose has

collapsed, not allowing the crankcase to have a negitive presurre. The other possiblity is the cylinder rings may have to much blow by thus forcing the oil out throught the dip stick tube. Check the PVC system first.

I have a troybilt tb-144 4 stroke mini tiller. The pull cord, pulls and retracts as it should, but is not engaging the engine when pulled...

remove the top cover. look inside while pulling rope briskly, you should see two dogs fly out and retract when the cord reaches its end. if not, check for dirt in the system and clean out. if no dogs, you will have to remove the system from the housing, be careful of the spring. check for any broken drive parts. also check flywheel cup for damage where the dogs come into contact with it.

Troy-bilt 4-cycle Garden Cultivator TB144 pull cord not rewinding.

This type of pull starter design is very poor and fails often. Cheap parts and cheap design leads to poor performance and yet Troybuilt still doesn't give free parts or an upgraded design.
