My Sansa View wont work for some reason. I turn it on and plug it to my computer through the USB Port but nothing shows up on the sansa even when i take it off. I try it on another computer and the same thing happens. And Both computers don't recognize the sansa, they say that it is an unknown Drive. I Did it yesterday and it worked perfectly.
My sansa view says it's connected even when it isn't. It works fine sometimes. Other times it doesn't work. It's driving me crazy! My sansa view says it's connected even when it isn't. It works fine sometimes. Other times it doesn't work. It's driving me crazy!

My computer (or any other) wont read the Sansa (only in USB mode, but I then don't have any access to my music.) I can charge it through an external USB charger, but can't edit or copy (or synchronize music). Windows media player wont detect it either.
The computer makes the USB sound 2x and nothing. The device says "connected" but nothing. It wont show when I go to 'my computer' so I can't manually open it. Never had this problem until now.

Does the charging sign show up? It could be a bad cable. Also make sure you have the right software You can get it here at: http://www.sandisk.com/sansa Go to Support\product support\sansa view\ thenlook in the right column
Try it with different usb ports as well. Go to Device Manager and look for "?'s" or "!'s"

- Turn it OFF - Put it in the HOLD position - HOLD the center button IN while plugging into USB port, continue to hold for 5 to 7 sec even after plugged in. At this point MY COMPUTER recognized it. And it worked.
He also had me to:
- go to WWW.MICROSOFT.COM - In the upper right hand search bar, type in MTP PORTING KIT I did this and downloaded the first one. Now my Sansa Clip work perfect. I wish I would have talked to him last week before I returned the last one, for the same reasons.
If this does not help call the 1-800 # , opt #4, and ask for GUY (yes that is really his name) out of 5 or so calls to Tech Support he is the only one who knew what he was doing, and how to actually .
There is a trick to charging the battery in these small mp3 players. It wont charge if it is turned on, and it won't charges if it's turned off. Here what to do... 1. plug the payer into your USB port. or wall charger 2. switch thje palyer on using the mechanical switch (on the side) 3. turn it off by either holding down the play button, or selecting "System" from the menu 4. The screen will go black and the battery will begin charging.
On your sansa, go to "Settings" then System Settings" then "USB Mode," then change it to MSC, if that does not work, try the other modes, just in case. Hope this helps!
There are two connection settings in USB: MTP and MSC. For some reason MTP is the default, but it doesn't connect properly on all computers. Select MSC and plug the player in again, the computer will recognize sansa e250 but not show the driver just yet. It is installing recognition software (just basic drivers - nothing heavy) and it doesnt tell you what its doing until its complete. WAIT FOR IT. Once it is complete you will see both the sansa e250 and the removable memory slot in your "my computer" now you're good to go.
2 Suggestions:
1) It may be that the battery isnt charged, let the unit charge fully
2) If that doesnt work, its probably time to send the unit back to sandisk
