Rowenta Model number DW9070, series B, 1800 watts, manufactured in 2010 will not get hot. The iron is getting power since the amber indicator is illuminated. The AUTO OFF light clicks on red and then seconds later clicks off. If I unplug and re-plug the power cord in, the same thing happens. The iron never even gets warm. Help.

If you dropped it it will probably be an easy fix. Just openup the unit and look for a crack in the cicuit board. This is the case 99 percent of the time in apliance drops. If you find a crack in a board simply epoxy it and on the cicuit side of the board solder jumper wires from point a to point b when you follow the boken trace(s). If more than one trace is broken repeat the process until all the circuits can be repaired. Make sure you use wire of a high enough rating to handle the current the trace handles, and also use wire with heat resistant insulation in this application.
First things first though. Just open it up and have a look. The plug to the heating element may have just been knocked off. With a little trouble shooting skills and a good look you should be able to see your problem. If you get it open and see something I did not tell you how to fix just post any question you have and I will answer them for you.

SOURCE: I have a Rowenta 1700

This is a problem with a lot of Rowenta irons. It is the auto shut off that is not working properly and the only way to fix it is to have it disassembled and the switch hardwired to be on whenever the iron it plugged in. It is a thermal metal switch and it just stops working and then the iron will not turn on and the yellow light blinks.

SOURCE: rowenta precision iron DM 561 will not heat up

Most irons for which you pay more than $10 (like this nice Rowenta) will have a replaceable heating element. The problem seems to be to try to find where you can get the heating element. My best bet would be for you to contact a Rowenta service center (see listing at http://tinyurl.com/danr9x). They should be able to tell you where you can get the heating element.

Before you go that route, I am assuming you already plugged the iron directly into the outlet in the wall (not in the surge strip)? Wouldn't be the first time a single outlet of a power strip goes bad.

Good Luck,

Iron got really hot, like it overheated, then the light stayed on, but the heat seemed to go off and water came out the bottom of the iron. What do I do now?

Hi.

The thermostat must be replaced.

The iron uses a thermal cut off that will disconnect power to the element when the top temperature is reached.

In your case the thermostat is shorted inside, and will never cut off.

The part can be ordered calling Roventa at the customer support number listed on the owners manual. Alternatively, putting Rowenta Parts in a search engine like Google or Yahoo, you will get a list of Rowenta parts distributor in your area.
