My Sony kv-40xbr800 will not power up nor show a picture at all, but i get a constant 7 red light blinks. If I leave it completely uplugged from the wall for a few days, some times I can plug it in and the picture will come back, but only until i power off the TV and then it starts all over again. The TV is outstanding and I don't want to 86 it, but what to do?

In your case flyback transformer is deffective ......replace it ......100 % GUARANTEE it will work again ........untill then donot do any expirements with your TV because other components may get deffective then it will get complicated......My Sony kv-40xbr800 will not - vishnuswamy_24.jpg

Power supply. Disassemble and be careful tv is not plugged in. Check capacitors on power supply for bulges on top. Replace but make sure u deenergize before removal by touching the two poles together. I use a small nail file

  1. Two blinks - B+ over current protection (OCP), unit goes to the standby mode then displays the 2 blink fault. Could be a short in the power supply of any of the circuits.

Your tv has problems in power regulator side, which is in the printed circuit board of the telivision. Sometimes it may due to some socket contact problems. You just contact a technician., while you cannot do it right by yourself.

Sony Wega 40" TV will not turn on, standby light blinks 6 times repeatedly
Hello,For model KV-40XBR800,

Pls check following area.

Low HV Shutdown:
On the D Board.
Check IC8004/pin 7 should be 7.4v.
Check IC8006/pin 2 should be 2.5v if lower will trigger shutdown by causing pin 1 to turn on.
Check IC8006/pin 3 reference voltage 2.2v.
IC8006/pin 1 normally at 0v. If high
turns D5007 ON which turns the latch circuit Q6532,
Q6530, and Q6527 ON and turns the AC relay RY6501 OFF.

And NOTE: 6 blinks also can be Low B+ protection.

Unregulated 7.5 v from the power supply to 5v reg IC504 on the A Board. 5v to M Board Q2314

to CPU IC2300/pin 43. If 5v missing set will shutdown with 6 blinks.

TV will not come on.
The 7 blinks indicate a high voltage shutdown (high voltage exceeded 33,000V). This is usually caused by a defective regulator. Could you please post the exact model number (KVxxx) and I'll look up the part you will likely need?

Exact same problem. KV-40XBR800 wont turn on, blinks six times. I am in the process of changing both Ic's part# MCZ3001D with part# MCZ3001DB. Ordered them frm ebay and waiting for the new parts to arrive.
here are the pictures of both chips and after i removed them from the d board.
As soon as i receive the new ones i will put them in. I can't wait to see what happens and i wanted to say thanks to all of you out there for putting this thing up. Thank you very much.
