Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,

Always worth while adjusting the 'balance'!
It is necessary to ensure absolutely that the machine has all 4 feet very firmly on the floor, and I mean firmly ;-0)

Doesn't matter whether it is empty or not but switch it off then-
very firmly push one front corner diagonally into the centre of the machine and see if the machine moves or rocks AT ALL, even the slightest. If it does you will need the open-ended spanner which came with the (new) machine........which of course went missing a long time ago?!! An adjustable spanner will suffice.
Adjust the foot under that corner downwards until it is very firmly- almost pushing- against the floor but not so far that the corner lifts up!
If this corner did not rock do the same to the other.
Once you cannot rock the machine the slightest little bit, screw the locking nuts up tight to the underside of the machine so that they will not move. Ideally the rear feet should also be locked.

If this has assisted you please consider a 4 thumbs up for the rating.
Thanks and good luck!

I have the same washer and have experienced the same problem. The center of the drive pulley wears out. I have replaced this a few times. If the drive belt is not centered and close to the tub, then this is the problem. If you see black belt dust, your pulley is probably bad. The pulley will not move too much with the belt on. Take it off and you will see the extra play in the pulley. Its an easy fix. Pulley (part# 8182650) is about $50 and the belt (part# 8181670) IS ABOUT $20. You may need to replace the Nylock nut (part# W10283361) if it shows a lot of wear.

Whirlpool ghw9100lw1 high speed spin keeps knocking

It is so common that the washing machine can make terrible noise in many ways and is a common fault. In all occasions it is important that your observation is most important and so is vital to the identification /rectification and solution. If you have noticed that machine is vibrating when it is running then the motor /drum suspension has to be inspected. Since these fittings are located on the underside of the machine it is important that you look for the noise with a good inspection lamp. Manually turn the motor and drum and listen for the noise, if so the motor bearings, the drum agitator shaft and fittings must be checked. Also the suspensions which include the shock absorbers and springs, the body clamps must be checked to be in correct alignment and not changed in position. Tightening of the mounting is also very important. Finally in most cases a drop of OIL or smear of grease on the moving parts cane solve most issues.

Hello with the limited information you have supplied this sounds like it is going to be the bearing, this is not something I would suggest a DIY fix since you have to replace the rear half of the drum with this model. If you have any other questions please feel free to comment. Good Luck! Mike
