Same problem; GH700 with a stripped gear, inside the casing.
I wish places with replacement parts sell uncommonly broken pieces... I didn't have an account for commenting a request in that site.
If someone asked them, it could be available in a matter of time.

SOURCE: The auto feed on the grasshogs don't work

Replace the line with a star-shaped .065" line (I use Rino-Tuff from Home Depot online). I have the GH700 (2 line) model and it fixed the problem for me. Other people have fixed the problem with different shaped lines - apparently there is one at Walmart that works well on electric trimmers. Just don't use the smooth round line. I tried the manual advice and it was bunk.

Grasshog GH700 spins but doesn't cut the grass

Most likely the string is not the right size in length and/or diameter.
Check instructions in the user manual available at this site.

I have a nearly-new 14"

These machines, unfortunately, are now considered disposable consumer items by the industry. One should expect a couple of years of good service from them and that is about it. Your problem is of course, the drive belt. Black and Decker does not list a replacement belt in the parts available for your model.

This big lawn tool parts company does not list internal parts either; only external. Sorry.

ENGINE WILL NOT ENGAGE WITH SPINNING SPOOL

I had the same problem, The pully is plastic and is mostlikely melted. I took mine apart when it finally stopped working and found that the belt had broken as well. When taking it apart, there is a hidden screw under the black sticker label. Just feel for the soft spot. Also, there are screws under the black plastic embelishments.
