If your PC has windows XP sp2 or later and Windows Media Player 11 try to do these steps:

1. Connect the player to the computer.
2. From the computer, select start - Control Panel - Performance and Maintenance - System. "System Properties" is displayed.
3. Select Hardware tab, and open Device manager.
4. Open Universal Serial Bus controllers, and select USB Mass Storage Device or WALKMAN NWZ-XXXXX.
5. Select Action - Update Driver ... from the menu bar. "Welcome to the Hardware Update Wizard" is displayed.
6. A dialog on Windows Update connection will be displayed. Select No, not this time., followed by Next.
7. Select Install from a list or specific location [Advanced], followed by Next for the hardware install method.
8. Select Don't search. I will choose the driver to install., followed by Next for the search and install option.
9. Check Show compatible hardware, and then select MTP Device* in the model list, followed by Next. The device driver is installed.
10. "Completing the Hardware Update Wizard" message is displayed, and confirm "MTP Device" message. Click Finish.

I hope this helps.
Good luck!

Thanks.

I am good doing this procedure up to step 9, however the installation process failes. I get the following response:

Cannot Install this Hardware
There was a problem installing this hardware.
MTP Device
An error occurred during the installation of the device
The system cannot find the file specified.

Also the Sony walkman will not turn on. I have charged it now for several days
and have tried pressing all the buttons as described on Sony's site including a reset. Windows does recongize when I plug in the USB as in device manager I see Walkman show up under portable devices when it is plugged into the computer. It's really poor that Sony does not have tech support for this issue. I see a lot of users with the same issue but no of the solution help in this case. Shame on Sony for not having a bullitan available on this issue. Beware of the Sony Walkman NWZ-E463!

How do i add photos to my nwz-e344

Hi,

Connect the Sony Walkman NWZ-E344 (8 GB) Digital Media player to your computer using the device's USB sync cable. Wait until your computer detects the MP3 player.

Click the "Start" icon in the taskbar. Click "My Computer."

Double-click "Removable Disk." This will open the root storage directory of your MP3 player, which is where all its files are stored. Locate the "Photos" folder inside this directory.

Drag-and-drop pictures from your computer into the Sony Walkman NWZ-E344 (8 GB) Digital Media player Photos folder: Click on a picture file and hold down the mouse button while moving the file to the Photos folder, then release the mouse button to copy the picture to the folder. You can now view these pictures on your Sony Walkman NWZ-E344 (8 GB) Digital Media player.

If your Sony Walkman NWZ-E344 (8 GB) Digital Media player does not support photo viewing, you can still add pictures to the device. Drag-and-drop the pictures anywhere within the root storage directory. You can transfer the pictures to another computer or any USB-compatible device.

Good luck.

My computer won't recognize my walkman

Try connecting using other ports, if it still fails, try using a known good cable. If that doesn't work, try checking if you have the driver for the device so that the pc will recognize the device.

Its a sony walkman NWZ-E344 mp3 when I try to charge it,'connected USB (MTP) the timer and alarm will be invalid' shows up.Eventhough I charge it like three hours it does not charge.

First unplug device from the computer. Go to Device Manager and look for NWz-E344. It may be under Portable Devices or under disk drives. It depends on your OS. When you find it, right click and select Uninstall. After it uninstalls, connect the player to the computer. The computer should run the plug-and-play add hardware to re-add the device.
