Document Feeder Problem

The roller on one side feeds and the other side does not. The result is a skewed feed and a jam. I would like to take the feeder apart but I am afraid to break the plastic. I need a good repair manual to properly disassemble the unit. Any clues?

There is no such manual for the HP OJ G85. Disassembly is not complicated. Just take your time.

Error J1

Hello Sharon,

When a document jam occurs, "J" and "1" will display alternately on the function number display panel of the scanner. Please perform the following:
  1. Remove all documents from the ADF paper chute.
  2. Open the ADF while pressing down the ADF open lever. If you are using fi-6130 with the imprinter option attached, please open the imprinter and then open the ADF.
  3. Remove the jammed papers from the ADF.
  4. Close the ADF pushing the center part of the ADF carefully.

If document jams occur frequently, please check the followings:

1. Do the documents satisfy paper specification?

2. Have the documents been jogged?

• Align the edge of documents for stable paper feeding.

• Remove documents with crease or dog-ear.

• Scanning different width of documents may cause skew and result in paper jam.

3. Are Chuter Unit (ADF paper chute),Guide P ASSY (Sheet guide), Feed roller cover (plate guide) and Brake roller cover installed correctly?

4. Clean the Feed rollers, Eject rollers,Plastic rollers, glass surface and paper feeding surface, and see if the error is

resolved.

5. Replace Pick roller or Brake roller, and see if the error is resolved.Check the consumable counter from the TWAIN driver screen or from the built-in Maintenance mode. When the counter exceeds the values, replace Pick roller or Brake roller.
6. If the issue still persists, then you are recommended to contact the nearest Fujitsu service center for further assistance.

Hope the above information is helpful.

Cannot clear error message "Document

Hi nigel_lester,

This error message "Document in ADF" that you are getting means that you need to remove foreign object from the Automatic Document Feeder (ADF). Kindly follow the procedure below in clearing document jams:

The belt inside my scanjet 4200c has come off. How do I reattach it? I have opened the scanner. It looks to be relatively easy but I don't know how to attach the belt to the motor etc

Instructions

1 Lift the hatch on the feed tray and pull up the large green tab to the left of the roller. Remove any jammed or torn paper from under the roller and around the feed tray.
2 Pull the input feed tray out of the automatic document feeder. Grasp the feed tray with both hands and pull it straight out.
3 Check the interior of the automatic document feeder for jammed paper. Remove any jammed paper, then reinsert the feed tray into the automatic document feeder. Push down the feeder cover until you hear a click.

My fax is having a problem feeding pages through the document feeder, it doesn't always grad the page, and if it doesn't get it, it acts like it has a paper jam, what is causing this?

Open the document feeder. Inside you will find a grey feed roller. Cleaning this roller with a cloth dampened with water will help with these paper jams in the document feeder.

Hp deskjet 6122 paper feed

Try putting Isopropyl alcohol on the feed rollers. These rollers become hard and smooth with time and cause all sorts of paper feed problems. You can find isopropyl alcohol at any drug store(it is rubbing alcohol).

Document Feeder Jamming.

The feed rollers may be worn out and need to be replaced, you can try cleaning the rollers with some alcohol, this may also make it feed better. but if it starts to act up again it might be time for new rollers.

Hope this is of some help.

There is NO paper jam- and the paper won't feed. We have taken the printer apart- NOTHING hung up- gears are okay- still won' feed paper.

hi...

Most of our printers pull the paper down on one side slightly faster than the other. The printer hardware should even this out when printing. You should also ensure the paper meets the automatic feeder requirements of the printer.

If printing is skewed, feeding multiple pages or jamming, please follow these instructions (use a regular letter size paper to test after doing the steps given below):

Please check to ensure there is nothing obstructing the paper feed mechanism down inside the printer where it is not easily seen. If there is nothing obvious, unplug the printer and remove the paper. Open the front cover and look above the steel rod. You should see a conveyor belt with rubber teeth on it, like a fan belt. Take the bottom part of that belt and move it gently to the left. The cartridges should come out with it. Make sure the cartridges can move fully from one side of the printer to the other. Check also the output rollers on the bottom of the printer for any blockage. If it is jamming under the carrier assembly, you may be able to fix it using the manual feed slot. Turn the printer off. Next take a #10 envelope and feed it through the left side of the paper feed slot (The manual paper feed slot is preferred, but the automatic feed will do if there is no manual paper feed for this printer) until it comes completely through the printer to the back of the exit rollers. Move it up and down and slowly move it over to the right side. If something is stuck under the black guide plate this may work it loose or you may have to feed the envelope through the front rollers and push your way backward (please be careful here).
Next, take a damp warm cloth and clean the rubber rollers in the automatic sheet feeder. Dust may be coating the rollers there and as they become less tacky, they cannot feed paper correctly.

Minolta ep 1080 copier document feeder will not feed

What kind or adf do you have? Will it only do one sided copies (AFR-1) or can it do duplexing (AFR-9) ? If you have the one sided doc. feeder the sticky stuff you cleaned off is mostly the paper feed roller are mealting away.... Is the paper stoping right where the rollers are? If so you will need to replace the rollers and the shaft, there are one piece and one part number... It is a BEAR to replace the shaft, if you have never done it before. Also, that may be a hard part to find, it is a olld feeder. One other thing to look for is the paper stopping in the same spot & is it being shifted to one side like it is being blocked, you may have staple or paper clip or a post-it note stuck there. Good Luck

ADF document feed

Hi, The problem seems to be a piece of debris , paper stuck in the ADF roller assy. You can check this by opening up the adf cover and inspecting the paper path. I have seen where a very small peice can cause paper path problems to where something is blocking the paper> Good Luck!
