Check all socket plugs on all harnesses, motor, printed circuit cards, after unpluging unit. Are there any flashing lights on the circuit boards.

Please check this manual for preliminary evaluation. Door switch needs to be working. This would be the simple fix. I will need to find a tech drawing of the controls if you need further assistance.

Frigidaire Front Load washer (25 yrs old) fills completely but does not spin for the wash cycle. Manual timer clicks and buzzes but drum does not spin nor does the timer advance.

Sure sounds like your timer has bit the dust. I'm not sure if the timer is still available. You have a great washer there. Good luck.

put it on the spin cycle and open the filter if it's the belt you will surely hear the motor spinning if not then it's not the belt

You likely have a broken or slipped drive belt or broken spring on the belt take up arm on the drum. Appliance Parts.com has a lot of DIY instructions on how to get at the belt and make repairs.

Washer fills and drains, but the drum does not run

Joe, Thanks for the prompt reply. OK, it sounds like one of two possible culprits, 1) the belt has broke or spun off. 2) the brushes in the motor are worn...although the initial symptom of this is typically manifest in "no spin" so I'd lean towards a broken or spun off belt. You'll need to remove the rear panel for a visual inspection to confirm or dismiss either possibilities. Let me know what you find out. If the belt is off check for possible reasons "why" ? It can be a loose drive pulley, ( the large one, not the motor pulley ) or simply an unbalanced load on the previous wash, just a heads up since you're looking around in there anyway. Of course the belt itself may be worn ( stretched ) or broke and thus at fault as well. Good luck, I'll watch your post. macmarkus :)

Front load washing machine would not spin now won't wash either.

Sounds like you have a broken belt or a bad motor. The easiest way to tell if the belt is bad is to reach inside the drum and turn it. If it turns very easily, you probably have a bad belt or something has caused the belt to jump off, such a s a loose pulley or bad bearing. If it feels like there is a good amount of resistance, or a kind of "winding up" noise, then the belt is still on and you likely have a bad motor. Also, you could just scoot the macine out, unplug it, and remove the back cover a look inside to see if the belt is still on the pulleys. Good Luck!
