I have an hp officeject j4680. Yesterday, I noticed that the blue wireless light is flashing on and off continuously, but I have never used the wireless feature of this printer. The printer won't turn on so I can't access the tools function or anything else on it. How do I turn off the blue light and turn the computer back on so it will print again? I've checked all connections and the power supply and everything is connected as it should be.

Have you tried pouting it in a different usb support, this should kick off the install again and you may get the functions working

I cannot print from laptop to wireless hp j4680 printer

Hi
one possible cause for this could be your connection setup. Make sure your antivirus is not blocking incoming connections from other wireless devices. You must disable your firewall for your wireless connection to be accessible to other wireless devices. If you're using norton then your firewall is managed by norton, so you should disable the firewall from the norton interface. Hope this works.

HP J4680 Will not see the router or wireless internet. When I do a network configuration print there is no IP address. Please help!

  • Option 1
  • any wireless product must be hardwired to the router prior to running wirelessly.
  • otherwise use a memory stick and your OS disk to transfer setting to allow for your configuration
  • Option 2
  • reconfigure the network.
  • start with the disk to the router
  • router software will lead you to build a network

Officejet J4680 won't printer after router reset

) You might not have to do this step, but if all else fails reset the HP Officejet J4680 network by pressing the setup button (the wrench) go to Wireless Menu and Press OK then go to Reset Wireless select YES and press OK. If that doesn't work then there is another reset that I found in the setup menu (the wrench) under Tools and then Restore Defaults. I wound up doing both resets on my Officejet J4680

2) Power the HP Officejet off and on for good luck (again optional but might help).

3) Make sure the the wireless on the printer is enabled by pushing the button on the left side front under the 802.11g so that the blue wireless light turns on. (again optional, but make sure the blue antennae light is on)

4) Connect to the HP Officejet J4680 wireless printer directly from the MAC (this is pretty cool stuff) Click on the Airport icon at the top bar of your mac screen, if you see the hpsetup listed then click on it, if it is not listed then click on join other network and type in hpsetup and click Join. This will join the mac to the Ad Hoc HPSetup network and you can now setup the printer from the mac!

5) Important: Print a network settings report on the HP Officejet by pressing the setup button again (the wrench) go to Print Report and press OK, go to Network config and press OK. If you try and print this before you connect (step 4) you will not get the info you need in the report, so connect first from Mac to HP then print this report.

6) fire up safari or Firefox or chrome browser on the Mac and type in the URL that is listed on the report you just printed out. It starts with http:// type in the http:// and the 4 numbers all together with no spaces into the address bar in your browser and press return.

7) you are now connected to the HP Officejet J4680 via the web browser interface. Click on Networking, then Advanced, click the infrastructure tab and fill in the passphrase info for your router type it again to confirm, then click apply. It should now connect and print from the router. But below is a good video with even more detailed info:

8) More Officejet J4680 setup via the mac using this very thorough guide: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rjd1ZqJ89N4

I have just got a new HP wireless printer, i have vista on my laptop and even though it said installation was complete it says error when i try and print and says printer offline. its a hp j4680

I had a similar problem, and after spending several hours on the phone with an HP tech yesterday, reinstalling the drivers over and over, we ended up manually creating a port with the printers IP address. Under "printers," right click on the 4680. Go to "properties," the "ports." We added a port, and named it the IP address. Then I could print. I STILL CANNOT SCAN, however!

I also have Vista.
