Just bought a Dometic DM2862 fridge. Freezer on goes down to 12 deg. and lower unit down to 38 deg., but during day the temps are: freezer - 22 deg. and lower - 44 deg. Is this normal? Can I fix this?

the dometic fridge you mentioned was outsourced by Dometic and they are having problems. (unit 2652) call dometic at 18888674188 and give them your mod and serial number.

fresh food tempt should be 38 deg ( this is good ) and 40 is close . as it will be 5 deg up and down freezer thempt should be around 5 to 15 deg or ice mker will not work . make sure the coils ore clean and fans are working or these tempt can not be obtained . mm feed back pls

I had a similar problem, paid a technician $90 to tell me to defrost the entire unit for 15-20 hours, and now it works like new. It is supposed to self defrost, but with poor circulation in the freezer (simply caused by too much stuff in there) the unit frosts up. This caused a rising temp in the freezer leading to inconsistent temps.

Anyone reading this with a similar issue, save your money and defrost it overnight. You should see a pool of water in the bottom of the freezer after defrost if this was the problem.

What is it? A single door or a double door unit. If a single door, what temperature does it go down to? lower than 0 deg. c or +/- 3 to 5 deg. c In other words, lower than o it is a freezer. Above 1, it is a fridge..

Adjust the setting until you can maintain a temp of 0 in the freezer and between 32 and 38 in the ref. These are the normal operating temps for this box.

I would look for a ventilation problem. If the fridge is working at that level nothing wrong with electric. The unit needs air to move up and out the top to make the freezer work. It sounds like the air is only moving the wrong way out the lower vent. Careful it could just be a birds nest but it may be a large wasp nest blocking the roof opening.

Tuna, it sounds like your thermistor is bad. Once the fridge reaches 40 degrees, the thermistor is supposed to tell the board to stop cooling and maintain. You can test it with an Ohmmeter.
