Onkyo TX-DS989 not staying on

Hello,
Usually my receiver works just fine. But now even though the standby light stays on, when I turn on the power it stays on for 3 seconds and then turns off. I tried using a different power cord with no success. What do you think?

This sounds like the action of some protection circuit that is monitoring some condition or voltage that isn't within its design limits. If it was mine, I'd look for an Onkyo forum to see if others have experienced the same problem.

Onkyo TX NR515 .. when in standby mode .. light is not coming on .. everything works fine .. i must have pressed something by mistake but cant work it out what ... on the display panel in standby mode...

If Zones are turned on or, if a mobile device connected to the Front Input is charging (MHL), the HYBRID STANDBY indicator won't light. See the TX NR515 owner's manual at http://filedepot.onkyousa.com/Files/own_manuals/TX-NR515_English.pdf for more info.

TX DS989 turns off after 3 seconds

Sorry but it does sound like an Amp failure and testing the unit for other electronic component failure will be needed

When I turn on my Onkyo TX-DS 989, the standby LED does not light up and you can not turn on the amp, but after about half an hour the LED lights stby and then you can turn on the amp and everything works...

The trouble is almost certainly bad capacitors in the power supply. As they age they become very slow to charge up (think of them like buckets that store electricity for other parts to draw on, and it's taking them much longer than normal to fill). As a result it's a while until the rest of the circuitry starts working properly. But once they've charged, the thing works like it should.

If you know someone with some electronics skills, they could check the capacitors and replace any that are visibly bad or don't measure correctly. Or you could see about getting the receiver serviced if you have a shop in your area. Musician's supply stores are a good place to check, or ask retailers if they have anyone they suggest. Since the receiver is basically okay otherwise, having this repaired would probably be worthwhile.

Upon powering up my Onkyo TX-SR605 receiver, it enters Audyssey setup mode even though the microphone is not plugged in. Even if I plug in microphone and remove it, it still stays in Audyssey mode and I...

I have the same problem and it is not speaker wires, cables, or dumb remote codes (really, remote codes.) I'm taking mine in for repair, and not reliying on straw grasping, speculative solutions.

Won't turn on.standby light on,fuse under cover is good.what next? onkyo tx-sr605

The only thing to test would be to disconnect all speaker wires at the receiver then turn it back on. If it still won't turn on, it's an internal power supply issue and will need service. If it turns on, post a comment and I can walk you thru further troubleshooting. Hope this helps
