Caravelle, 43C13, purchased at Doucet jewellers, Orleans, Ont. on April 2, 2009. The push pins on the watch stop working after a few months. I had a repair done in January 2011 and the same is reoccuring now (Aug. 30 2011). So adjustments on the digital portion cannot be made. Since this is reoccuring problem, is there an extended warranty for this specific problem, or is there a credit being offered on a new watch. This is my second Caravelle watch. The first one had exactly the same problem. I kept it because it still works but none of the digital portion can be adjusted. thanks, Francois Sigouin, Box 186, Limoges, Ontario, K0A 2M0

SOURCE: I cant adjust the minite hand backwards if the watch is gaining

Unfortunately your watch do not have reverse action, so, you have to go all the way forwards till you reach designated time again.
One more way how to set the right time is to disconnect the battery and wait till the real time reaches the hands of your watch, then put battery back and set again. If watch has a STOP function (crown pulled out), then you don't have to disconnect the battery- just pull out crown and wait.
By the way: pushing the button in accelerates minute hand constantly, but if you'll push the button rapidly, it will move mimnute hand bit by bit. Use this feature to set desired time more precisely.

My watch stopped working. It's been in a jewelry box for a few months, no exposure to light. What do I do?

Eco-drive watch should work for 1 year out of light. Take it out of the drawer and place in light, and check that the pin on the side is pushed in all the way.

Stopwatch second hand stops/jams at 57 seconds point jamming the whole works. Watch stops. Keeps excellent time otherwise if stopwatch not used. 2003 ss model. Bought new from rolex.

This may sound obvious but it needs to be repaired by a jeweler/watch repair shop. Although it is possible that the stop watch second hand is out of sync it would usually mean that the stop watch is starting at 3 seconds before 00:00 for 57 stop. If that's the case you should be able to readjust the start/stop position by pulling the crown out to 1st or 2nd position and then pressing the stop watch start stop buttons. One press, one position. Although I am not certain of the exact sequence.
However if you are unsure or it starts at the 00:00 position you need to find a jeweler you can trust to do the work. Check out a few places and ask to see the credentials of the watch repair person then compare and make an informed decision. Don't just use the jeweler at purchase point.
Most times, if it's a simple repair, like readjusting the hands a good jeweler will do it for nothing.

Good luck

My daughter gave me a Timex wristwatch (Indiglo waterprood, two tone, with day of month display for Christmas. The band is a bit big. How do I adjus it? It's not a twist o flex.

You just need a tool to push the pin out. Make sure to push the pins in the direction that the arrow points. DO NOT try to do this with any sharp object as you will ruin the band and ultimately the pins. You need a specific tool to do this as you it applies a quick "burst" of pressure to the pin which pops it out. You can buy this tool online at an inexpensive price (search: watch sizing tool), but if you don't have a huge watch collection I would just suggest going to your local jeweler to have it sized. I size all of my own watches, but I have been doing this for years. I would not want you to ruin your band or the pins by doing this incorrectly. It will probably cost you $10+ to have it sized at a jeweler, but you will be paying around the same for a tool. While this may seem like an annoying cost to pay, I assure you that it's quite normal, and almost everyone needs to have their watch sized. Watch companies make their watches big on purpose so that if you are a larger person you will not have to pay for extra links or special order them. Depending on where she bought the watch, they might even be able to size the watch for free (if they have the tools I am 99% sure they will size it for free as most places offer free sizing if you bought the watch from them). Even Wal-Mart offers free watch sizing if you purchased it from that specific location (this doesn't apply if you purchased the watch online though). Although the pin looks like it can be pushed out with a pen or something else sharp, please don't attempt this. I previously worked at a jewelry counter and can't tell you the number of ruined watches I have seen by people attempting to size their watches without the correct tools. Most stores will not let you return/exchange a watch that has been damaged if the customer has attempted to size it themselves either.

Hope this helps!

Vintage Caravelle runs fast

A quick look at ebay shows plenty of Bulova watches and only a few looking for a worthwhile price.

I think if you have it repaired for sale it probably won't be worth the effort or expense. If the watch has sentimental or nostalgia value to you I think that is what would make it worth getting a good watchmaker to look at it.

Caravelle by Bulova watch strap adjust

You need to push the pins out in the direction of the arrows. Then take out one link from each side. Put the pins back in the same way they came out, with the slot pointing the same direction as before.
