It's a simple unit: a motor powered by a simple control board, powered thru a cable. To locate the fault you will have to dismantle the front end: remove the bottom cover, the filters, unscrew the baffle and the board will be accessible. Now check the continuity of the power cable, the contacts on the board (they might be corroded) and the power buttons.

Hi I have a Samsung SMH9187 micowave that is dead (no display, light, fan, mirowave).

Sounds like the main fuse blew. It's either near where the power cord enters the cabinet, or behind the control panel (if an over the range unit).

You may also have some type of failure in the high voltage circuit; based on your description of the symptoms.

My smeg electric oven model no. SA22XMF/7 is not heating after we lost power. Fan and light is working but the heat is not. What can that be ? Is it the fuse or the element has gone

This tutorial will show you how to check your Smeg element and how to replace your Smeg cooker element.
Here are the 3 main faults to look for in your oven or cooker that is not heating
  • Your oven will not work until the clock/timer has been re-set after replacing an oven element or tripping the electrical supply. Consult your Smeg manual.
  • If your Oven is not getting hot or heating up it could be a faulty element, if the fan in the oven is running and the thermostat light is on, this will lead us to believe that the element has gone faulty. With grills the thermostat light should come on there should be heat, if not then this could be the grill element or the thermostat.
  • When you turn the oven on, the household electrical supply trips on the Rcd (this is the earth trip in the fuse board sometimes called the breaker tripping) your fan oven element has gone to earth and needs replacing.

Oven suddenly lost heat, inside fuse is OK though. Display, fan, turntable all working. Is it magnetron or its power supply?

You're right, if the lights come on and turntable moves, it is most likely your magnetron.

I have a Smeg A1 Oven which has lost it's power

The fuse is located behind the rear panel of the cooker. Depending what model this is, it may be an electronic card causing the problem?

Dead GE Spacemaker

A microwave can be dead for many reasons.

If it goes dead for a while during or after cooking then comes back on, the magnetron is probably overheating and causing the thermostat to open.

When it cools, it closes the circuit and allows power through again.

If it's random, it may be a bad connection, usually on the control board or fuse holder.

If it went dead almost immediately after pressing the Start pad, that's usually a shorted high-voltage capacitor.

If it went dead a few seconds after pressing the Start pad, that's usually a failing high-voltage transformer.

If the fuse is good, it may be an open thermostat or thermal cutout on or near the magnetron or on top of the cavity / body of the oven.
