I can send emails to my office pc but cannot receive from them

If you are using Outlook Express at home and your office uses a full version of Outlook, it will have some communication features not available to Outlook Express.
There should be no problems sending standard emails though, as long as your office computer has internet access.

Microsoft Web Access won't send mail

If you are trying to send or receive an email in Microsoft Outlook and the password doesn't work, you can check a number of different things. Microsoft Outlook validates your email account with your email provider using various settings. Once it has validated your settings, it will send or receive email. It is not only useful to set up your email correctly but essential if you wish to use Microsoft Outlook.

Gather all of the email settings for your email account. These will be located on your email provider's website in an FAQ or support section. If in doubt contact your email provider to provide all of the settings. Look for any of the following terms: POP, SMTP, IMAP, SSL, SPA, server, and port number. Make a note of all of these. Determine when the problem exists. Check if the problem occurs when sending an email, receiving an email, or both. If the password error only happens with either sending or receiving, this narrows down the source of the problem. Click "Start," type "Outlook" and press "Enter" to open Microsoft Outlook. Click "File > Info > Account Settings." Select your email account and click "Change." Click the "Incoming mail server" field, if your error was when receiving email but not sending. Enter the full "incoming mail server" address as provided by your email provider. If your email is "IMAP" then change the "Account Type" to display "IMAP." Click "More Settings > Advanced." Make sure that the incoming server "Port" number is the same as your email provider stipulates. If your provider requires SSL, then click "This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL)." Click "OK." Click the "Outgoing mail server" field, if your error was when sending email. Enter the full outgoing server address. Click "More Settings > Advanced." Make sure the "Outgoing server" port is correctly set. If your email provider requires encryption, then select the correct type from the drop-down menu. Click "OK." Click the "password" field and make sure you have entered the correct password. If your mail provider requires "SPA," then click the "Require logon using Secure Password Authentication (SPA)" to enable it. Click "Next" and then "Finish." Your password should now work. Hope it helps.

How can I fix my error 530 problem in outlook?

Your Outlook settings work fine at home, sending/receiving mail. You're on the road now, and you can no longer send, but only receive mails. You're getting an Error 530 or Outlook error 0x800CCC78.

The problem is the on-the-road ISP may be blocking port 25, and/or your ISP might not accept mail being relayed from other network domains. SBC Yahoo allows you to change your SMTP port from 25 to 587. Most ISPs let port 587 flow through. Internet access works, receiving email works, you just can no longer send.

Solution:

  • Go to Outlook, Tools, Accounts, Server, Advanced, and change the SMTP port from 25 to 587. Hit Apply, OK, then exit/restart Outlook.
  • Start Outlook, create a test email and send it. Should work fine.
  • The solution might vary with other ISPs. Your home ISP must support an alternate port for SMTP TCP traffic, and the current ISP providing you access must not block that alternative port.
  • Recognize this is all the fault of spammers and the ISPs trying to slow them down. This is why they block port 25 for non-customers.

If this doesn't work, just change the port back to port 25.
Alternatively, as with SBC Yahoo mail, you can always use the Webmail interface. This, like all other web pages, uses port 80, which ISPs do not block.

I receive my emails via Outlook... and have doing

POP and SMTP Access service is active. Once configured, POP Access allows you to download, read, manage, and send your Net@ddress Messaging Center email on your computer, both online and offline, using your favorite email client.

IMAP and SMTP services are active. IMAP is a method of accessing your email messages that are kept on a mail server. Once configured, IMAP allows you to download, read, manage, and send your email Messaging Center email using your favorite email client while online or offline. Using an IMAP-compliant email client such as Microsoft Outlook, Outlook Express or Netscape Messenger, an IMAP user can access his/her email on the server from different locations, using both the IMAP client and the WebMail client. For example, when you read a message and store it in a special folder in your IMAP client while at work, you can access that message and folder while reading your email at home with the WebMail client or with another IMAP client without having to transfer messages or folders between computer stations.
