HT-RC180 all of a sudden no sound output (not muted, etc.) Turned it on yesterday, and everything works, but no output. Observations: No static/noise floor when volume is increased to maximum-absolutely ZERO output. No physical/mechanical clicking when switching between listening modes-which normal occur. Unit IS detecting audio-screen switches to Dolby-D back to pro-logic, etc. when input sources are changed--i.e. pressing stop on a dvd.

Again, onkyo has downloadable cd software (its free) that you run threw cd player via fiber optics that will fix the issue. onkyo.com,choose region, click support at the bottom of page find Download Center or
Software Downloads/Updates: for info. With onkyo its usually a simple chip issue. If that fails , find contact support , e-mail them your issue and simply ask for a downloadable repair disc- I did.

I have Philips Flat Tv model # 42pf7320a/37 ..I have a clear picture but no audio, just white noise and static.

Clear picture but white noise and static?!!!!!. What do you say?. Check whether the audio is muted by accidental press at remote control button. Enter its sound menu, and check it. If muted, as you know there will be no audio output. If not muted, check the speaker/s. If found OK; check and replace the damaged component/s at its audio output section circuit board. If needy, replace this board as card basis. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts. Surf the site with patience.

Auto muting on when on am/fm and no sounds come out. everything else is fine.

That's normal.

The Auto Muting mode mutes the audio output of the tuner if the station is not sufficciently strong to be accurately tuned. Otherwise you would hear all that interstation hash noise.

Press the FM Mode button to change it to Mono if you want to manually tune a hard-to-reach station. It will be in Mono.

Page 26:

AUTO MUTING
Normally select this.
When a program is broadcast in stereo, you will hear stereo sound; when in monaural, you will hear monaural sound.
This mode is also useful to suppress static noise between stations. The AUTO MUTING indicator lights up on the display.

It has power but won't work!

There is a problem with the output stage of the amplifier section and the whole unit is in "protect" mode. This means that the output section is turned off. The output transistors are the likely defective parts here. Expect a repair cost of $15-$40 in parts plus the local labor rate.
