2 people on modem . router 2wire... and when one is one , other gets kicked off can't fix help

Unplug the ISP modem and the 2wire, Check ALL cables and reseat connections, plug in the ISP modem, wait for selftest, plug in wireless, wait for selftest, does your wireless SSID show in Available Wireless Networks on the Laptop? Can you connect using a Ethernet cable to verify it's getting a signal? Contact your ISP and have them verify the signal, have a ISP tech come out to analize the signal, it may be outside?

What is the model no of your 2wire wireless modem not all 2wire wireless modem can support cable tv might as well contact you cable service provider

there is a cd-less install or Greenlight technology in it. it will automatically startup once you open a browser, (preferably IE. However, if you don't see it, try pushing the reset button at the back of the unit for 30 sec. open IE, then you will see the installation page.

NOTE: make sure you know what your username and password is... for authentication purpose...

first check for any computer that is connected to you modem.
try to access your modem gui or software
since you have a 2wire modem go to the wireless setting page
then configure your wireless settings
you can call your isp for the correct wireless setting configuration

Very possible that the 2Wire is slower. I have had a ton of complaints about all kinds of 2Wire devices. As a suggestion though, check their tech support site to see if there may be a firmware or driver update for the modem. I had a Linksys router once that kept kicking me off and was crazy slow when it was up and working. A firmware patch fixed both.

The DSi only works with WEP encryption. The 2Wire and most other newer routers use WPA encryption.

Simply logon to your router with a web browser. The default IP for it is 10.1.1.138 but it might be different, just check the manual or internet for the IP. Go to "Home Network" then "Advanced Settings" and change the security from WPA to WEP and save.

The 2wire dsl modem/router cannot be use with a another cable modem , since this 2wire device is also a modem/router and its made for the DSL conenction that's why it wont work with Cox cable, the best thing that you can do is to ask Cox to give a wireless modem/router like this 2wire so you can still use the wireless connection of your computer..
