One of our experts will be happy to run through some troubleshooting over the phone with you, and provide the assistance you need. Vacuum works quietly and well when using the wand attachment, as soon as it is lowered into 'floor vacuuming' position it makes a very loud noise but doesn't seem to lose suction.

Hi Ismaias, it's Jack at Dyson.

The issue you're describing sounds unusual. If you think the noise coming from the cleaner head and brush bar is excessively loud, you might like to follow the steps shown in the video below to make sure nothing is jamming or obstructing the brush bar:

If you're confident there are no obstructions, but your machine is still sounding much louder than it should be, please do not continue to use your machine. At this point, it would be best to contact the Dyson Customer Helpline directly so we can provide further assistance. If a repair or a replacement part is needed, we can also confirm if this is covered under your Dyson warranty.

When you have your DC50 to hand, please give our experts a call on 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU).

How to get at beater bar belt on dyson dc 28?

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.

DC28 includes a durable belt engineered to last the lifetime of the vacuum in normal use. It's part of the high-torque clutch mechanism, and we wouldn't recommend attempting to access or remove it as this could damage the machine. The belt is protected by a sensor which will shut off the brush bar for protection if something jams it, so it's very unlikely the belt itself would be at fault.

If the brush bar isn't rotating, the machine may need a simple reset. After checking the cleaner head for any obstructions, you should be able to reset the vacuum following the steps shown in our video guide:

If you continue to have difficulty after trying this, please contact our experts directly for further assistance. If a repair is needed, we can also confirm if this is covered under the 5-year Dyson warranty. You can reach us by calling 1-866-693-9766 (US), or 1-877-397-6622 (CA).

Dyson dc 24 brush works intermittently

Hi Chris, it's Jack at Dyson.

DC24's brush bar is designed to shut itself off for protection if something jams it. Please follow the steps shown in the video attached to remove any threads or hair from the brush bar and end cap, and to check the cleaner head for any obstructions. Once you've done this you should be able to reset the machine.

If you'd like further advice from our experts after you've given this a try, please call the Dyson customer Helpline on 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), or 1-877-397-6622 (CA). If a repair or a replacement part is needed, we'll be happy to confirm if this is covered under your machine's 5-year warranty.

My DC16 will start and then stop. I have to take

My DC16 also had charging problems. I called Dyson and they sent a new charger. The old charger only produced 23.6 volts DC, not the rated 28 volts DC. The new charger has a thicker round wire and produces 28.1 volts DC. Put a volt meter on your charger terminals and see if it is producing enough voltage to fully charge the battery, 28 volt DC. If not you need a new charger.

LOUD OBNOXIOUS SOUND!!!!!!!

If its a cracking sound or a rattling sound then the drive belt has gone and on this model, it has a protective belt. Check the guarantee on your model if its still in warranty you could get a free repair. Otherwise you're looking at an official repair as generally owners can't replace belts on the Animal/protective belt models.

I ran over a shoe lace and now it is making a loud rattling noise

The All Floors model has a protective belt clutch system and the rattling sound means the clutch has slipped. This would have to be repaired officially by a Dyson repairer.
