I am trying to find my manual for my Northstar 5500 PPG Pro Series (GX Series Commercial) Generator. Bought it 5 years ago. Running like a champ now (for first time) and just can't find my manual to learn things like - how long it will run with full tank and when do I put in new oil (how many hours before adding more oil. I have tried to find manual on line but cannot. Help me please.

Though without the mannual its really difficult to guess the things but as an expert I will suggest that as far as the engine oil is concerned you should check the level after every ten hours of running if its less than top it up but it should be compleatly replaced after 40 to 60 hours of operation depending upon the conditions you are using the generator if the operating conditions are dusty winds type change it around 40 hours otherwise you can continue up to 60 hours and fuel wise it shoul give you 1.5 to 1.75 liter per hour on rated load if you are on one forth load than it should go five hours on a gallon

Adustments engine speed low rpm

You cannot adjust the voltage output. All generators are rated for 110-125 volt recepticals and usually have at least one 220-240 volt receptical for special appliances that require it such as water heaters, pumps, welders, air conditioners. When one of these higher draw appliances is connected and they begin to draw amperage, the gas engine will automatically increase rpm to produce enough amps. If your generator gauge is showing low voltage such as 60,80 or 90volts for example, then you have overloaded the generator and blown a capacitor, resistor or similar item.

How much output can i get from northstar 5500 ppg generator

there are two things in generator out put
one is max out put which is 5500 in your case and another is rated out put which should be about 4500 in your generator Max out put should be used only for a little time say half an hour otherwise generator is suppose to run on rated load or rated out put which is 4.5 kva or 4500watts in your set that also when you are in Ideal conditions means if you are at the sea level if you are above in altitude you can calculate that engine will loose its efficiency at the rate of 3% after every 1000 feet altitude inthat way you can calculate how much rated load you can put on the generator
