My HTC G1 is unable to hold a charge. I've attempted to charge it via an OEM AC charger and through a computer's USB port. In both cases, the phone recognizes that it's plugged in (the battery symbol in the top right shows the charge symbol and the light at the top goes on) but it doesn't increase the charge percentage. When I plug it in through USB, my computer says the connected device has malfunctioned. Removal of the battery coupled with a factory reset worked to restore charge capability for about a day, but then the problem recurred. Any ideas? Thanks.

What do ido to make my kindleD00901 operational SCRREN showing critical battery

The nice thing is, that the Kindle/Amazon charger (Ac adapter) is clearly marked as being an Amazon/Kindle charger.

So, here's what you do, perform the hard reset of the Kindle (slide and hold the power switch over to 20+seconds; count slowly; release, then connect to your Amazon/Kindle AC adapter. Then leave it connected for 30+minutes; and should the battery charge, the Kindle screen will return to normal.

Alternate step to try is; if you don't have the actual Kindle AC adapter, you will need to try to charge via the USB port from your computer.

The trick here is, that the Kindle takes longer to charge direct from a computer USB port, and the computer has to be left on the whole time and CANNOT go to sleep, as the power to the USB ports might be turned off.
Also, it's best if you connect to a "powered" USB hub, or the USB ports found at the back of a computer tower (not the front USB ports as most of the time, the front ports do not supply enough power for Kindle charging).

My htc incredible s won't charge, I've tried

It sounds like the charging port on your phone is broken. This could have happened a number of ways. Either by dropping your phone, putting the charger in wrong, or taking it out wrong. If you call HTC(866-449-8358) and it is still under warranty they will probably fix it for free as long as it doesn't have any water damage(http://www.ehow.com/how_4479971_check-cell-phone-water-damage.html). Otherwise you could also get a new phone.

My Kindle Fire will not start

If you last charged it with the computer USB port, try charging with the supplied AC adapter instead. If you last charged with the computer USB port, try charging with the AC adapter this time. This will help isolate a bad AC adapter / power cord or USB cable / USB port.

It is important to note that if you are charging your Kindle via USB port on a computer, when many computer enters "sleep mode" the USB power is shut off at this time too. Charging is effectively halted - even though still connected. You should only expect to charge while the computer is active or when using the AC adapter.

You can also purchase an aftermarket DC charger. These are small plugs that are inserted into your auto's port or cigar lighter. They provide 1 or 2 USB connectors to plug in a USB cable. These devices are suitable to supply / charge just about any devices that uses a computer's USB port to power / charge a device. They cost anywhere from $5 and up and look something like this:

I hope this helps and good luck!

Sd card not working on g1 phone. How do you fix it?

Hello

If you are charging the phone the SD will become unavailable. I heard it is only if using a 3rd party charger, but it also happens if you are connected to a computer via USB.

If this is not the case, it could be a formatting issue with the SD card.

To remove the card, hold the phone in landscape orientation, slide open the keyboard and you will see a little tab on the device (not on the slide part) to the right of the keyboard pad, near the bottom... open the tab with your fingernail and then you can push in the sd card to get it to release... make sure you unmount it in 'settings/sd card and internal storage' BEFORE you take the card out or you risk corrupting the info on the card...

Wont charge. i plugged into so many usb cables and box chargers and light wont turn on nothing charges it

Your charging port is probably bad. It is a common issue. You can take it into an electronics shop and they could fix it by sending it to the manufacturer, but it might cost more than a new phone like the HTC incredible

Tmobile dash isn't turning on

  1. Verify that the OEM Charger and Battery are being used.
    • Only the AC charger, Car charger, or USB data cable that came with or was created for the device should be used; others can damage the device and/or battery.
  2. Is the device warm?
    • When using the device for prolonged periods of time, such as when you're talking on the phone, charging the battery or browsing the web, the device may become warm. In most cases, this condition is normal and therefore should not be interpreted as a problem with the device. The device has a protection feature that if the device becomes too warm (due to use of GPS while charging, BT while charging, using the device as a wireless modem, etc), the auto protection feature will be triggered and the charging process will be stopped. Once the device cools down, the device will then begin charging again.
  3. Check the USB Port on the device for any bent or misshapen PIN's.
    • If some are found, that is the most likely cause and this is considered physical damage not covered under the Warranty.
  4. Remove the battery and inspect the contacts.
    • Remove any debris/residue found on the device or battery contacts with a soft, dry cloth.
  5. Look closely at the battery contacts on the phone to see if they are bent out of shape.
    • If they are bent, the device will need to be exchanged.
  6. Try charging the device (try different power sources as well as chargers):
    • Plug in USB to device and PC; is the LED indicating that the device is charging?
      • Note: If the device isn't charging while connected via USB to a PC, go to Start>Settings>More>Power>Power Management and make sure that "When device is turned on, do not charge the device when connected to the PC" is set to OFF.
    • Plug in AC Charger to device and outlet; is the LED indicating that the device is charging?
      • LED indicators: Charging is indicated by a solid Amber light on the upper Left side of the face of the device.
        • Note: If the battery is completely dead, the light will be a solid RED for a few seconds while it is charging; once the device has enough power to turn on, the light will turn to Amber.
  7. Try another Power Source.
    • Try a different outlet to rule out that as the issue.
  8. Try another battery in the device.
    • If another battery doesn't work, perform a Hard Reset.
      • If the device powers up after Hard Reset, test the unit for a few days. If issue returns, device can be considered for an exchange.
      • If device shows charging with one (AC Charger or USB) and not the other, issue is with the accessory. Replace accessory.
      • If device will only power up when attached to charger (AC or USB) it is likely the battery needs to be replaced.
Device won't hold a Charge
The life of the battery between charging sessions will vary depending on which features of the unit are being used.
  1. Verify the you are using:
    • OEM AC Charger
    • OEM USB Data Cable
    • OEM Battery
  2. Fully charge the battery using the OEM AC Charger
    • USB and car chargers are trickle chargers meant to get the user through until they can get to their AC Charger.
  3. If the device is not lasting the advertised Talk time, with minimal use, try another OEM battery in the device.
  4. If the battery life still is not meeting the advertised Talk time (with minimal use), the device will need to be repair/replacement.
Device won't Power on
  1. Attempt to charge the device.
    • If the battery is dead, the device will need to charge for a few minutes and then should power on once this happens.
  2. Attempt to power the device on by pressing the Power Button for 3-5 seconds.
    • If the device doesn't power in, perform a Soft Reset using the stylus.
  3. If the device still doesn't power on, perform a Hard Reset.
  4. Try another battery.
  5. If the device still will not power on, it can then be considered for repair/replacement.
Handset Powers off

  1. Make sure that the device is actually powering off and not just going into hibernate mode by pressing the power button once.
    • If the screen comes back on, the device is not powering down.
  2. If possible, check the battery level by going to Start>Settings>More>Power>Power Management.
    • The charge should be no lower than 10%; if it is, charge the device and retest.
  3. Try another battery in the device.
    • If the device stays powered on with a different battery, the issue is with the accessory not the unit.
  4. If the device still powers off with another battery, Hard Reset the device and retest.
    • If the issue remains after the Hard Reset, the device it can then be considered for repair/replacement.

Unable to charge the 3100. If charged via car

the Magellan Maestro can not be charged using the USB connection.

make sure green light is on if using the car charger and let it plugged in for awhile, then hold the power button (up to ten seconds) until it starts..if that fails

The following Magellan 800,860,2000,2200t,2500,3000,3050,3100,3140,4000,4040,4050 and the 6000t are known to have faulty dc connectors...if your Magellan gps is not charging or will not power up, its most likely the dc power port.

you can get it repaired here

Will not charge or turn on using USB cable.

Two things.

HTC phones will not charge from the USB port unless you have ActiveSync on an XP or Mobile Device Manager on a Vista PC loaded.

Second, if the phone has been stored for a very long time, 1 year if initially charged, 1/2 year if not, the the battery self discharges to a point the USB port PC Sync software doesn't know the phone is connected. You must jump start a charge on the battery by either and HTC AC charger, a generic AC/USB charger will not work, or you can apply a +5 VDC voltage to the power terminal, marked + and - on the battery case, on the two outside terminals I believe. This 5VDC must be current limited for safety. The Red and Black lead inside a standard USB cable will supply current limited +5 volts at 100MA. Chop off a standard USB cable, their cheap and break out expose the Red and Black leads. While connected to the PC USB port, hold the Red lead to the + battery terminal and the Black to the (-), or other outside terminal, of about 30 seconds to a minute.

Now when you plug the phone to the PC with a good USB, the Amber light on the phone to indicate Charging, may not come on for a while, 5 minutes or so, but it will eventually. If it does not, jump the battery again for a longer period of time.

An AC charger for the 3125 are fairly inexpensive. $7 or so, on ebay with shipping. This may be the way to go. Consider getting one with a new battery. They are sold this way sometimes and sometimes for little more that the charger alone.
